In short: enjoyable race , well organised. In full: good race, mostly flat and if you start near the front there is a chance of getting a new pb. was my fastest 10k this year. well organised and marshalled only downside was the cheap plastic looking medal ! Date of review: September 20, 2010
In short: Not only for a very good cause, this is a really lovely run. Obviously helped by the fact that the weather was spectacular for the second year in a row. A beginner's dream Date of review: September 17, 2010
In short: Great location, organisation and cause In full: This is such a lovely, friendly race I happily travel from several counties away to take part. The route was much improved this year and one of the local residents (which gives you a clue as to how well supported this is) had paid for the bottle-neck from previous years to be remedied with a new removeable bollard. Impossible to fault the organisation, marshalls or local support (or indeed the glorious beach scenery!). Only disappointment was the weird chip timing from the gun to the finish line rather than from start-line to finish line as it added quite a bit of time to those who started nearer the back. However, it's a cracking event and Chestnut Tree House, who provide such a vital service, deserve to do well out of it. Date of review: September 14, 2010
In short: Lovely weather, well marshalled In full: The weather was great with a good turnout for a worthy cause. However the route wasn't very inspiring and the chip time system frustrating as the results listed on the site are just listed on an excel spreadsheet, not easy to look up and didn't match my time on my stopwatch, out by about 20sec! In short: It was Smashing! In full: Fab event and I really enjoyed it! Chip timing, weather and improved route made it better than last year. I thought that the interact screen timings was very impressive (not seen this at any other event). I even managed to beat last years times, even though I was dressed as Mr. Potato Head! In short: Lovely event for such a worthy cause In full: This was the second time I have run this race, and we were treated to some very fine weather as well. Warm and sunny with just a slight breeze coming off the sea. This was a well-organised event, this year having chip timing and a facility to view your time immediately after the race. Nice goody bag along with your medal. A very friendly event, and so important for those children with terminal or life-limiting illness. Will want to do this again next year. Well done all. In short: Lovely day In full: Chip timing??? Shame it was just recording your time over the finish line - I started right at the back as the chip timing should have given me my actual running time start to finish. Other than that it was a lovely race - maybe next year they will do chip to chip timings rather than gun to chip finish. Date of review: September 13, 2010
In short: A great day, a good race and all for a worthy cause In full: This was my second time to do this race and it has improved on last year. Great car parking, close and convenient. Nice touch having chip timing and last years problems at the finish line were overcome with a much better laid out finish area which was well monitored. the weather was perfect, the crowds were out in strength and there was wonderful support all around the course. The only negative point I have to make is regarding the distance; I believe it to be a bit short of 10km by as much as 200m which does have a negative impact on any PB times they will have been set on this fast, flat course (including mine!) In short: Glorious Weather for a First timer at 10K distance In full: How to offset the nerbes of a first time runner... 1) Arrange for glorious sunshine, no wind, a seafront setting, a well organised friendly event for a worthy cause 2) Go back to 1 and repeat.
Great flat course, with no crowding at all this year (at least at MY pace!), and a few mini-challenges for the first time 'racer'.
Congrats to all at Chestnut Tree House and all organisers and sponsors. Superb! Date of review: September 13, 2010
In short: Great race with plenty for the kids to do......... In full: No need for a guilt trip here. The parking is right at the start on a grassy field overlooking the glorious sandy beach and with a nice kids play area and cafe right next to it the family were happy. Really well organised, chip timing, clear markers and plenty of marshalls. Supportive crowd and nice goody bag. I hope Chesnut Tree House raised a lot from this run as they certainly put in the effort. Date of review: September 12, 2010
