In short: The tram is too fast ! :o)
In full: I thought I might have a chance against it, but no - it zooms off so quickly only the top handful of men seem able to keep pace... shame.
The route was good, with some nice off road sections and plenty little hills. As you loop back a few times it was a good race for supporters as they could see you many times.
I did have a couple of niggles though. Twice I had problems with marshalls. I was running with no-one in front of me for quite a bit of the race, and at a crossroads the marshall was too busy flirting with a spectator to show me where I should be going. I actually had to run over to them and start waving to get their attention. And second, was at the end a marshall said 'you're there' so I stopped, but was confused as it didnt look like the finish, and then, as someone passed me, I realised it wasn't the finish, and he turned round and said, oh no - its about 100 yds over there... You cant see the finish banner as you crest the last hill and as the finish tent is near the hill, I believed him when he said i was there. Oh well. Next year I'll know.
The other niggle is about water. It was a v.hot day and it was lovely to pick up the drink in the woods. However as it was a two lap course I mistakenly thought the water would be available on the second lap and so threw my bottle away too early. Bit of a shock on the 2nd lap when I'd been looking forward to a drink to find the water stand was finished. For next year it would be helpful, especially if it's hot, if water could be available on the 2nd lap.
I really liked the socks in the goody bag, and would have rather had these than a t-shirt.
