In short: A great race and I would say a must do for all runners... In full: This is a very well organised event and even by running standards, very friendly. Great t-shirts too-pity you had to buy them. The course is very flat, but if you don’t like long, very long straight roads, you may want to think again. Enough water and the sponges were a nice touch, given the heat on the day. The mile markers were ok I think, perhaps one or two may have been a little off. Good support through the villages, which was nice and the use of the local school as start/finish area was great. Far better than the crush that is village hall events. My race was actually 16 miles (3 miles before)run at marathon pace in preparation for Berlin, but I’ll be back next year to see how well I can cover the distance. Only criticism and this is personal to me I suspect; what is it with medals ? Just what are you supposed to do with them. I didn’t take mine and in my view, organisers would be better off dropping this ‘novelty’ and think about t-shirts as part of their overall marketing strategies. After all, who ever gets to see you race medal?

In short: My sort of course fast and flat In full: The dodgy 3rd mile marker is worth sorting out, and my hatred of paper cups continues. I'd much rather pay more and have water in bottles. My walks through the drinks stations taking on board two cups full rather than drinking half of one on the run, must have cost me over a minute on my finishing time. If the weather hadn't been quite so hot, I'd have finished very close to my PB. That said, enjoyed the day, and despite the 70 mile trip to get there, I hope to be back next year, for what was a well organised race. Date of review: September 13, 2006

In short: Excellent In full: This was my first 1/2 marathon and absolutely loved it. The organisation was excellent, all the marshalls were really encouraging and water stations and sponges at regular intervals. I will definitely be back next year. Date of review: September 12, 2006

In short: Flat, hot and well-organised In full: I entered as a complete beginner, this being my first 1/2, the time limit did make me worry but I came in just over it and was still made to feel welcome even though the PA system was already packed away! I'm glad I didn't take my mp3 player as I met some great people and was able to chat all the way round. Excellent organisation with plenty of water, sponges and cheerful and considerate marshalls. We had plenty of support and encouragement at the back of the field! Well done to all involved. I would imagine it is a good PB course when the weather is a bit cooler and with no wind. The long, straight fen roads were a little challenging but the villagers who turned out for support were great, I enjoyed it and may well be back next year! Date of review: September 12, 2006

In short: Great race, good parking, lots of water & sponges & flat course ...... but can we turn down the sun? In full: The race has a lot going for it, no hassle with parking, loads of toilets on offer and a flat course. It turned out to be quite hot (lovely day for everything but trying to set a PB!) and with no shade I think everyone ended up a little slower than they would have liked. There was lots of water & sponges on offer - but I still ended the race feeling parched. I think I'll be back next year .... Date of review: September 11, 2006

In short: Flat, boring race, girl handing out medals could have cracked a smile... In full: The race was pretty average in most aspects, apart from the heat, which surprised me and resulted in my slowest time of the season, even though it was largely flat. The joining instructions were far too prescriptive, informing competitors that MP3 players were not to be used and not to carry water bottles. Methinks someone's been on a risk assessment course... Also, the cut-off time of 2.5 hours I felt would deter many beginners, who wouldn't be sure if they would make that. Date of review: September 11, 2006
