In short: Hilly, but worth it
In full: One of the hardest halves I've run, but very well organised. Had the feel of a big city race, but the organisation was much better (probably the first time I've ever seen enough toilets!). Supportive marshals (even the guys and girls from the rest home!) and a reasonable goody bag. The hill from 4.5 - 6.5 miles wasn't as bad as I was expecting, but I didn't enjoy the slog up to the finish. I was about 2 minutes down on what I'd expect to run right now (I ran 82 minutes but am in about 80-ish shape). Only slight gripes were that despite the large amount of sponsorship, there were no prizes for the winners (except trophies) and there were no vet categories for the prizes. I'll do it again though, it was a nice morning out.

In short: Great race
In full: Watch the hills, especially the last hill at the 11.5 miles mark, I saw many runners struggle on the last hill. Overall great race and wow, I achieved a PB. High five Swindon, see you in 2009.

In short: There's more to Swindon than roundabouts!
In full: The only fault with this half marathon is if you rely on them supplying water you'll be dehydrated! There's never enough water to please everyone, but hey that's what a camelbak's for. Definitely seemed to be more marshalls this year and the addition of toilets around the course. Can't say if there was more support this year of if it's just because I was quicker there were more people still hanging around! Every year it's the same bits of the course that get me - the hill around the 4 mile point (over the bridge), the horrid downhill then sharp uphill turn around the 9 mile point and the Marlborough Road seems way longer on the way back in than it ever did on the way out - but I still sign up again every year!!!! A lovely challenging run, well supported and the organisation and facilities improve year on year. Sign me up for 2009.....

In short: Absolutely brilliant
In full: I am a local so perhaps biased, but this has to be one of the best road races. Great organisation with loads of friendly marshals, lots of water stations (with small bottles of water) and energy drinks, a really nice course, (you’re not going to get a PB, but just enjoy the views) roads closed so it soon spreads out to give loads of room, lots of friendly local support, clear mile markers (and a 13 mile marker). Well done and thanks to all involved.

In short: Challenging hills with great scenery makes it a nice change from large flat races. Plenty of drink stations. Good Support.
