In short: Wild In full: My first visit to Fleetwood but would return just for the race. Well worth the effort. Who needs hills when such windy conditions produce an exhilarating challenge? Thanks to the marshals who braved the rain and the organisers. I'm easily pleased but the Eccles cakes were a nice touch. Date of review: September 26, 2011

In short: small, friendly, informal race but very well organised In full: A small but very friendly and well organised race. The course is extremely flat and has an excellent potential for a PB. Race registration/information etc was in the local Leisure Centre which also provided parking, changing rooms, showers and toilets. They also accepted race registration on the day. It was a bit bracing running along the sea front and Mother Nature also waited for the exact second the organiser shouted “Go” to throw down some torrential rain. It hit us with some force horizontally straight off the sea but thankfully didn’t last long. Despite the weather I really enjoyed this race as we wound in an almost figure 8 pattern along the sea front. There wasn’t any chip timing just a time but it didn’t matter as the field was so small. There wasn’t a goody bag as such but there was a very welcome medal, bottled water, cup of coca cola, banana and a very nice Eccles cake at the finish. All the things you need rather than a bag full of leaflets! Definitely a race I’d recommend and consider doing again. Date of review: September 8, 2011

In short: Everything that could be controlled went well... same about the weather! In full: Extremely well organised race, I knew exactly where I should have been etc. The course was well marked out with numerous friendly marshalls and police along the route. There were ambulance patrols on bikes and numerous helpers at the finish to ensure you received your medal, water, banana and optional eccles cake! I even recieved a well earned glass of Coca Cola later on.
I expected the route to be a pain with the roads not being closed but due to the marshalls and the police this wasn't a problem at all. Water stations were announced in advance so you could prepare for them and the helpers on these stations were more than helpful.
The only problem was the weather, hail at the start, torrential rain, showers from the sea and a truly horrendous in ya face wind!
Got my pb but could have done better if not for the wind but I think you take it into account on the coastal runs.
All the runners bonded over the weather and would def enter it again :-)

In short: Fast course but bad winds and rain slowed it down In full: New PB for us on this as it is a flat course the wind and rain didn't help and the 4 mile stretch down cost was a killer. I thought £18 was expensive medal was ok but this is not chip timed in fact no claock at finish or anyhting good ob I had my garmin. Banana and water finish so not much there I think this should be a £10 unless they chip it. Thank you to the marshals who braved the weather. Date of review: August 29, 2011
