In short: Only reason not a PB is that there was a pretty decent family party the night before

In short: Run this race several times it is one of the best for clearing the festives cobwebs and justifying the over indulgement over xmas and new year.
In full: This race is a must to ensure that people commit to the "must get fit" new years resolution that is often broken by 2nd January". The exercise between xmas and new year is a sharp reminder to people just how much they have overdone it during the festive period. All standards, shapes and sizes compete. Didn't do it in 2004 and the only change I noticed from 2003 apart from the fact that they had returned to handing out short sleeved T shirts instead of long sleeved was the queuing at the end. For some bizarre reason they had people funnelled single file that snaked and led back into the sports hall that created an awful and unnecessary bottle neck. I couldn't see the point in this. It didn't spoil a well organised race and in true "Arnie" fashion "I'll be back", next year.

In short: Last chance of the year for a 10km pb!
In full: Sceneic and enjoyable with a very fast field.

Following organiser's instructions meant that I got stuck towards the back of the pack so the first downhill mile was a struggle to hit at target pace, but numbers thined out from there.
Well recommended for anybody chasing 35mins or below 10km times.
Course profile is downhill first mile, then 2 and 3 uphill, 4 and 5 back down, 6 undulating with a climb for the last 300m.

In short: Fantastic race, rubbish finish
In full: Great location and scenery, generally well-organised, marshalls did a great job of controlling the cars and a nice relaxed atmosphere. Calling it flat/undulating is a bit cheeky, I can't remember any bits of it that were flat for any distance, it was up or down the whole way. Quite often I got to what I thought must be the top and I thought it would be downhill from there, only to see the next uphill around the corner. Beat my PB and my target for the year though. On the downside, the finish was a mess. Having the finish line clearly marked (taking into account the fact that most runners have tunnel vision by that stage in a race) by something as simple as marking a line on the road would make a real difference, at least people would be able to get an accurate time for themselves. And being really picky, could they not have given out the T-shirts in the hall rather than in the doorway which left me queuing in the cold with my knees seizing up and no water for ten minutes. If they can sort out these niggles I'd be happy to come back next year.

In short: Superb scenary
In full: Fast, scenic course. Queued for nearly 2mins to cross the finish line and then was asked by the officials what time I'd done which was very strange!!

In short: Above average race in terms of PB potential
In full: Nice course and location, good parking. Nice and fast course just last 200 meters uphill. Not to keen on finish arrangments though, had to queue too long to get to t-shirts and no water either on the course or at the end. Overall good race worth turning out for just need finish sorting a little.

In short: Lovely scenery, interesting course, pleasantly undulating.
In full: The downhill charge at the start was fun, couldn't believe my time for the first mile! Balanced by the uphill finish which needed a bit of energy saving for. Bring your own water for after the finish because it didn't seem to be provided.

In short: Not as quick for me as promised, but the clock doesn't lie...
In full: Turned up feeling like I ought to run quick, but felt ropey all the way to mile 5. Hillier than I'd been led to believe, but a good blast after the excesses of the festive season. Check out the alternative toilets though...
