In short: best fun I've had while running
In full: dont bother tiptoeing round the mud early on because you will get blathered later.

In short: Tough but fun
In full: What started as a trail race became a fell race up on the moors above Bury. With only 2km to go, it turned into a mud fest. A very challenging event but great fun. The entry fee is steep, especially with no T-shirt or medal.
Shortage of portaloos meant that some peole were still queueing when we were called to the start.
At least there was somewhere to get changed afterwards, even if there was a lack of privacy which may have concerned some people.
Great coffee was very welcome.

I would probably not do it again but only because there are plenty of other events to do.

In short: Muddy, lots of hills first 5km, down hill last 5 km!
In full: Great fun race, lots of hills, mud and water. Not for PBs. Not great value for money as no medal, t.shirt or goody bag at the end...dissapointing.

In short: Total rip off. Complete fat profit making exercise for Military Fitness.
In full: Course nothing more than a basic cross-country run - zig-zagging across fields to make it longer. Friendly enough people, but the price was extortionate. Compare this race with something like Sodbury Slog - and you realise this is just about Military Fitness on a massive money-making marketing exercise. No prizes? c'mon guys, at least for the first few people home!

In short: Nice people and scenery, but a bit boring.
In full: Start and finish was a bit boring zig zagging across a field. Hills and terrain were fairly challenging, but it really needed more obstacles and water, not just the the one cargo net and one small muddy pond guys. However, I'm sure it will get better with time.

In short: Worth giving a go once, but probably wouldn't do it again.
In full: The couple of token obstacles weren't quite what I expected from the write up on the website. The course started and finished a little dull and repetitive but was more interesting between 6 and 8km. Although the km markers seemed to have been put up at randomly selected distances from one another (plus whole course was about half a mile short according to my watch) and the warmup was a little odd!

In short: Excellent race! Although, if you don't like hills, don't enter! We also have to run under nets and through mudding waters! Trust me, you wont get bored!

In short: Route was ok - lack of prize let this race down!
In full: As this was organised by British Military Fitness, I had high hopes. Car parking was disorganised (good job it hadn't rained or we would have been stuck in that field!). The warm up was good fun and the route overall was ok but I was disappointed with the lack of obstacles (only a crawl tunnel and a bog!). Scenery was lovely though and liked the forest section. Was appalled that we got nothing at the finish apart from a bottle of water and some dodgy tasting milkshake. To pay £20 and have nothing at the finish is extortionate. It would have been a good advert for British Military Fitness to have a prize for everyone. May I suggest a nice medal with a Camouflage ribbon next time?
