In short: Good training run for Spring Marathon
In full: It's a bit boring scenery wise and running on the road where there's no pavement is a bit difficult but if you can put up with this it's a really good 20 mile training run. Hills aren't too bad and the beauty of laps is that by the last one you know what's coming next. A major drawback for slower runners like me (I took 3:50) is that as advertised you will be running mainly without marshalling on the last lap. Of course by now you should know the way so at least you won't get lost!

In short: A good spirited challenging race which I have enjoyed over the last couple of years
In full: The undulations are challenging and provide some variation along the course. It is one of the few races where I have enjoyed doing laps. Being able to visualise what I needed to do for the last lap helped my pacing.

In short: Enjoyed the 4 laps rather than one long stretch of 20 miles. The marshalls and police gave great support.
In full: The marshalls were fantastic and uplifting, I loved the 4 laps rather than a straight 20 mile run. I was at the back and there was plenty of support from runners and marshalls. The first 2 miles of each lap were hard and the traffic came close a few times but I would recommend the run, especially as a pre London Marathon as we now how 6 weeks for our bodies to recover! The medal was a horrid black colour, but I am still proud to have it!

In short: Good preparation for a marathon
In full: Fairly well organised, friendly people, didn't enjoy crossing the roads (fairly busy). I enjoyed running the 20 miles into four laps, it does easy up the whole race, though i did struggle in the last lap and had to walk/run for the last two miles.

In short: Mentally tough but well organised race
In full: This was my first 20 miler, in preparation for my first marathon. Quite a challenge. The laps were appealing the first three times (i.e. knowing what was to come), but by the fourth I was really wanting to finish, especially as what seemed to be well over a third of the field had finished already as I went through the checkpoint! Everyone was very welcoming and friendly and the marshalls and police were very encouraging. (as were the old ladies waiting at the bus stop)

In short: I agree thats its a great pre-FLM training run especially for the first timer
In full: Don't have a particular dislike of running laps but I found it help me break up the distance mentally better for this 20M event. For instance the last lap felt like I was treading on water and I enjoyed the ruislip streets in the first lap. The medal is something worth cherishing and looks different.

In short: Excellent FLM preparation, and well organised
In full: There's not much they can do about the scenery, and the traffic wasn't much of a problem. The undulations actually bring a bit of variety to the psychological challenge of running four laps of 5 miles each. On the plus side, the organisation and marshalling were very good, and weather conditions were ideal. Would be nice to have somewhere safe to leave bags.

In short: Excellant race if you are training for the FLM
In full: A terrific course for anyone attempting 20 miles for the 1st time as I was. The course marshalls and first aiders offered so much support it made the run enjoyable. I look forward to entering again next year.
