In short: Excellent, fast course, enthusiastically marshalled. A terrific warm-up for a spring marathon In full: Belatedly, just like to echo previous reviewers. The marshals were terrific. Drizzly conditions were great for running, not ideal for standing outside for several hours, but they didn't seem to dampen the enthusiasm of the race officials whatsoever. Again, hats off to the running lady near the petrol station and the lady half way down the hill after the four mile mark. Undulations were a welcome variety, at no point were they arduous, and the downhill bits seemed quick. The one slight negative, which couldn't really be helped, was the cars passing from miles 0-2. They did on occasion get quite close, especially when more overtaking was required on the third and final laps. But a big thank you to Hillingdon AC - was surprised how much I enjoyed this race. In short: Great for building up your distance in a small, well organised race. A few hills to add some variety but nothing that should put off a beginner. In full: Great marshalls, guy at Breakspear Arms, lady at petrol station who danced for us all and the lady and her team after the golf club (not sure she was even a marshall). Good support at the finish from spectators and other runners who'd already finished. Sure it mentioned a t-shirt on RW event page(?) Anyway, thoroughly enjoyed t-shirt or not. 4 laps good for pacing but not so many you'd get thoroughly bored. Date of review: March 16, 2011

In short: Run rabbit, run rabbit. Run ! Run ! Run ! In full: My first 20 mile race and I'm still surprised at how much fun it was running multiple laps. The weather was just right and cool, plus it was great preparation for my spring marathon. Keeping count of the laps required was straightforward, although some of the fantastic marshals out around the course had been doing so anyway: Final lap, Yo !. Also the lady near the petrol station was great encouragement. I was really pleased to have taken along some Torq gels since I definitely needed a few of those on the final two laps, since only water, dilute squash and jelly babies were being stretched out. Bring some energy and you'll be fine. Date of review: March 15, 2011

In short: Tough but rewarding In full: I thought I would, but I found that I don't mind four laps. It's reassuring to be able to spot the landmarks as you go round again and again. The legendary lady at mile 4 (not wearing a bib - is she even a marshall?) was really pumped up. I also enjoyed seeing 'petrol station lady' running backwards and forwards in slow motion somewhere after mile 3. Some energy drinks at one of the water points would have been helpful in the second half of the race. If you have to do twenty miles before a marathon, this is a good one to do. In short: First time running this event and the marshalls with HAC club support got me round. In full: Brilliant support from HAC, thank you to everyone at the club, I couldn't have done it without you! Marshall support was so very helpful in keeping me going. Tea and cake to finish, well done in the club house! Date of review: March 15, 2011

In short: Good marathon prep..Fair mix of up and downhills In full: Good 4 lap race around Ruislip and Ickenham. Time seemed to go quickly and the 4 lap route helps with pacing and knowing whats coming next. 1st lap was new, 2nd and 3rd laps were dull and 4th you knew it was the last!! In short: Good marathon warm up In full: I entered this race as preparation for my marathon training. I had never run as far as this before so guaranteed a personal best for completing it. This was a 4 lap course and was a bit disconcerting at times to be overtaken by decent runners, especially when I had one lap to go and people were finishing. Also there was traffic on the roads which I had assumed would be closed though it was well marshalled. Big thanks to the marshals specially the enthusiastic ones towards the end of the lap , the ones handing out jelly babies and the lovely people shouting encouragement. Date of review: March 14, 2011
