In short: If you're going to do one trail race, make it this one!
In full: Running through bogs waste deep, thighs burning up hills with gradients of no less than vertical, rushing through single track forrest trails - the air burning your lungs. Aching where you didn't realise you could ache. Mud caked and tired you may hate every moment you've been running but you feel on a massive high when you finish. The challenge and fun is worth the pain.

In short: Great value for money and very well organised.
In full: A very well resourced event and the major sponsors involved made for one of the best goodie bags you could ask for. Sports Gels, a cereal bar, a For Goodness Shake, water, a pair of Thousand Mile socks and a technical t-shirt probably account for the cost of the entry themselves. Two water stops were well placed on the course, which was mainly well marshalled. There was one misdirection of the front runners up the wrong track right at the start, but this didn't affect the final results at the front end. One or two junctions were a little confusing, but that's running outdoors for you. Scenic and testing surroundings and a great atmosphere. Toilets were provided and it would have been nice to have some sort of basic showering, even a hose or a water butt to get the worst of it off you. 2.09 events continue to organise great races and I'll be back for more.

In short: chocolate milkshake sir?
In full: Great bike display, great organisation, great route; especially liked the Band of Brothers style river/stream crossings. Mud is still caked over my legs, slowly flaking onto the office carpet beneath me. Great value for money (the race, not the office carpet).

PS I bought a SAAB 8 years ago, nothing but trouble

In short: Even better than the first one
In full: Brilliant organisation, great goody bag and friendly encouraging marshalls. Although less mud think this was harder than the May Turbo-X. Couldn't fault a thing - except me, must get faster !!

In short: Didn't let down on the hills, lot of mud...!
In full: I've run in this area a few times, and they found a great route, picking out the best hills. The bog at the beginning made for sore running though, especially as most of the race was pretty dry, with the exception of the last loop. Should have added a bit more obstacles to break up the middle miles. Good fun though, and would definitely look out for the next one.

In short: Tough, but great trails & scenery & lots of fun
In full: A really good mix of varying terrain including sand, stones, grass, mud and swamp. The hills were tough - especially in the hot sun and I had to stop about 3 times to catch breath - but I recovered in the second half of the race and felt okay towards the end. Good event for spectators - my 5yr old son was very impressed by the bike display. It takes ages to wash the mud off your skin.
