In short: Not bad.
In full: This was my first distance race over half marathon length since London marathon 1999 and as I intend to do a couple of full marathons this year I fought this race was a good start and I wasnt wrong the race was well marshaled with a lovely course with only one small gripe that is the mile markers wernt very accurate I was using endomondo the first mile came up to soon but the 20 mile finish line came up spot on so guess that may need looking at in future, for a low key event and paying £20 guess I cant really grumble.

In short: A good run for all types of runner.
In full: My first time doing 20 Miles. It was a great introduction for the longer distances for me. The race had a good atmosphere and runners of all ability were there. The course started on a business estate and went out onto country roads. The course its self was well marshalled especialy on the areas open to traffic. The finish a bit far away from the showers though. But overall a great race.

In short: A good pre-VLM 20M race.
In full: A good race with just a couple of potential tune-ups. The registration/changing was a long way from the car parking and the start, but the course itself was very nice - it starts from a business park but then does three laps of mostly quiet, rural roads. There's two minor hills on each lap, but nothing murderous. The course was well marshalled and there were plenty of drinks stations and encouragement. My only real problem was the mile markers seemed inaccurate - the first 'mile' or two were short and the last 'mile' was very long - not sure about the others. This made it difficult to keep consistent mile splits without the benefit of a Garmin, which is not ideal marathon preparation.
The goody bags at the finish were decent - bag, biscuits, banana and a nice flask as a memento, and thankfully the finish was closer to the car-park than the start!

In short: Essential event for the diary of anyone training for a Spring marathon
In full: This was my third visit to the Gloucester 20 in three years and the second on this new course to the east of the motorway. I wrote at some length in my review of the 2010 event and so will keep it brief this year! (I am also backfilling some gaps in my reviews, so this one is being written some time after the event.)

In 2010, I found the new course quite disappointing compared with the old Longney/Epney course; the hills are about the same, but the course somehow feels a bit more enclosed and also has a section on a busy road. However, running it for the second time, I couldn't really highlight any particular faults with it and would certainly do it again.

No particular comments to add this year. As for the run itself, I ran the first 18 miles at a steady 8-minute mile pace with fellow club member Brian, then struck out for home with a couple of 7-minute miles for a finish in 2:38.

Nice technical T-shirt this year - thanks as usual to the organisers and the marshals.

In conclusion, as nearly every reviewer has already observed, this is an excellent event for anyone training for London or another Spring marathon.

In short: Ideal pre-marathon tester
In full: Well organised, great parking and other facilities. Slightly low key start but a nice run through the Gloucestershire countryside afterwards. Lack of first water station caught me out a bit but overall a nice way to spend a Sunday morning. Thanks to all those who organised it.

In short: Good training for any marathon, but the open roads make for a rubbish last lap.

In short: Ronseal
In full: Timed to coincide with training for marathon runners. Scenic once out of the industrial estate. Good & useful t-shirt. Busier road junctions well marshalled, Water station not ready at far end of loop on first lap. Weather picked up throughout the day, possibly more water required but think the weather may have caught them out

In short: No frills, well organised race
In full: Good training for a Spring marathon [which most participants seemed to be doing] Not flat, but the three laps were not as bad as they sounded. Not many unattached runners, but good mix of speed and no crowding. Easy access and a great technical T shirt
