In short: Deserves the plaudits and remains my favourite marathon.
In full: My fifth time this year and one event that I never tire of. Weather conditions this year were clear, sunny, and with a tail wind to push you homeward - ideal. This made running such a fantastic course even more rewarding and enjoyable.

I've described this marathon to many as a scenic and challenging run over the rolling hills of the South Downs (apart from that initial hill) up to about 18 miles. The event then throws up the steps (100+) accompanied by the lone piper, the seven sisters, the post-sisters climb taking you inland, the gradual climb up to Beachy Head (23-25 miles), before catching sight of Eastbourne as you reach the crest before the final mile taking you downhill to the finish. It is the final 8 miles that gives the event it's colourful personality and makes this marathon so memorable - if you keep something in reserve for these last few miles then you accept these challenges with relish and enthusiasm.

With the good weather, there were more enthusiast supporters than usual, and I enjoyed their vocal support as tiredness kicked in.

With the usual flawless organisation by Nicola and her team, and the generous touches (great medal, free post-race hot meal, and hot showers). I will be back again for next year without doubt. Thanks to all!

In short: An amazing challenge that leaves you with the feel good factor.
In full: If you are feeling a bit fed up with life do this event. It will leave you feeling 100% knackered but special. You just go with the flow and enjoy the freedom of running and the stunning scenery. It's tough but worth the effort.

In short: Extremely well organised. Don't underestimate those hills!!! Tough but enjoyable! I will be back for more next year!
In full: This was my first Marathon and although I may have underestimated just how tough it was, I still thoroughly enjoyed it and will probably be back again next year! Extremely well organised. Thank you to all the marshalls and supporters who kept me going especially over the Seven Sisters, where you really need it! The weather was perfect and the scenery breathtaking!

In short: I never knew that hills could be so enjoyable.
In full: My first marathon. Felt that I needed to do one before my 40th next year and having heard so much about it, then thought why not? It was outstanding. It hurt. It was fun. I will be back next year. Forget road races, this is the nirvana for me.
