In short: Hillier than I imagined it would be and oh so hot!
In full: My first half, but not my last. Insufficient training and over estimating of training runs made this painful, but at the end the joy of finishing made it all worthwhile, even though the oldest man on the route beat me and the chap pushing his friend in the wheelchair - well done to you. I will be back to try and beat my time.

In short: My 1st half-marathon, the heat and undulations (hills!) hurt like hell. Kids on their garden walls giving high fives was nice!

In short: Excellent organisation and good support on the last few miles through town. Learnt not to stand near to mascots at the start of a race after being repeatedly hit round the head by Sammy's antlers!

In short: Great Organisation, friendly.scenic and hot.
In full: The little details that make a great race had been thought about- plenty of sponge and watering stations, people giving time splits, music on route, friendly encouraging marshalls.

In short: I went there for old times sake and came away with a PB!
In full: I ran the first ever Mansfield Half and went back on it's 25th Anniversary this year to have another look. It was so heartening to see how this race has grown and matured into something quite special.

Race HQ was easy to find, there was plenty of free parking, there were loads of keen young runners ready to take part in the fun run and there was a real friendly atmosphere.

The course has changed over the years and was a lot less tough than it was in '81, but still quite challenging.

There were plenty of happy smiling marshals, lots of water and good support around the course.

At the end we got a goody bag, T shirt, mug and commemorative 25th Anniversary photo.

The post-race facilities were excellent with the use of the leisure centre showers.

And to top it off I had a great race and took over 4 minutes off my previous (2 year old) PB, finishing in 1.42.28 :)

In short: Great race, great organisation
In full: Great race, heat got me though. Went through 5 miles bang on pace, but then died after that. Good lift from the band outside the pub a Pleasley who were playing teenage kicks as I approached, I had to join in as i went through. Once again Great Race, great organisation, pity I was so poor.
