In short: A great race - ideal for all types of runners In full: I don't know what it is about this race but its the second time I've done it and both times I've wished there were more events like it.
There is a very good mixture of standards in the race, so the course is busy, but with plenty of space throughout the field.
The marshalls are very encouraging and friendly. There are sparodic spectators throughout the course, many just people enjoying the views who are happy to cheer you on. The views are great, with plenty of woodlands and plenty of sea views. And the course is very fast and flat - indeed, a minor hill at the end seems like a struggle simply because its the first difficult part you come across.
Even the arrangements at the finish are great with a nice big-open cricket field with a couple of tents up, an easily-accesible location (by car or public transport) and superb (and free) parking facilities.
The closest I can come to any form of criticism is that they only have the thing once a year - I would certainly welcome more events like this on the calandar. Date of review: July 4, 2006
In short: Excellent Race - Well done to the organisers In full: I did this one last year and thoroughly enjoyed it, so i came back for more and they didnt dissapoint. I never won, but I didnt come last and I enjoyed the jaunt around, especially the section along the river, glorious views. flat and fast. Definite promise for a good PB Date of review: June 26, 2006
In short: The Penny Lane 10K is Liverpool's best kept secret In full: Well organised race by a well organised and friendly club.Where else would you get to run in park land with gorgeous views across the Mersey for added measure? Date of review: June 26, 2006
In short: Super smashing great. In full: This is a great race and suits all levels. If there is one tiny niggle its the distance markers. It might be me but some k's seem longer than others. To the fast boys it might not make much difference but to us plodders split's that differ by 1 minute can be a bit disheartening.
Then again I don't have to measure out the distances, organise T-shirts, drinks etc so if thats all I can complain about it tells you just how GOOD this one is. Date of review: June 26, 2006
