In short: great views, great marshalls, great snacks In full: Had a really good day, did the full and was right at the back but didn't mind. There was a lack of water though, i hid some half way round and was really glad. Great food along hte way for the marathon at least and really nice friendly marshalls. I agree about the signing, I come from round there and felt the instructions relied on local knowledge. I reccied the second half the week before and was glad as the field was sparse by then.
Thanks very much though - what a great day! Date of review: September 12, 2006

In short: Perfect way to spend a Sunday! In full: Thanks to the organisers and the volunteers on drinks stations and in the kitchen. It was tricky in parts to find the way but this just added to the fun for me. I did the full, it was my 5th marathon and as special as all the others in it's own way. Just over four hours of enjoyment (?!) for £10. Date of review: September 11, 2006

In short: Not a race for a first time marathon! In full: I ended up doing the half instead of the full because I hurt my ankle but to be honest, I was relieved-this race is rock hard and you need to either a)have no sense of danger or b)not care about landing on your head or c)both. Great scenery but there could have been more warning about the self navigation as there weren't very many marshalls.More water stations needed too (each one I got to had run out and were waiting for more). Organisers and marshalls were very friendly though and there were food and drinks available. Date of review: September 11, 2006

In short: Organisation needs overhaul In full: Several aspects of this race need looking at:
1) Pre race letter needs to accentuate the need to bring map and compass and be map literate. This was not expressed and leaves many non-local or first-time runners exposed to the pitfalls of a course without large numbers of marshals and signage. 2) Signage needed from main village to start, as ended up driving around Haworth for a fair while. 3) More desks needed at registration - only two meant big queues and a delayed start 4) More marshalls and markers or more realistically a greater emphasis by organisers to competitiors placed on self-nav (as pt 1). In short: Killer value at £10 including decent t-shirt. Glorious scenery , excellent organization and plenty of drinks and food. If you want a challenge and enjoy events like Beachy Head Marathon, North Downs 30K, Snowdonia Marathon etc this is a must! Date of review: September 11, 2006

In short: This race is nuts!! In full: OK this is a mostly offroad marathon across the Yorkshire Moors and its blooming hard!! The event is really good but you have to map read or stick with other runners who've run before. There was a serious lack of water stations given the heat and a medal would have been nice after finishing a full marathon. I wouldnt do it again, it really is hard with lots of hills, however I would go back and do the half which is also run on the same day. Date of review: September 11, 2006
