In short: Two laps, great marshalling.
In full: 2004 race was sunny and very very hot: 27degC in the shade. Thankfully, there were lots of well-organised water stations. Started and finished on the horse-racing track, which was novel (and meant parking was no problem).

Loads of very friendly marshalls, and good crowd support in the towns & villages, but a couple of longish stretches of otherwise deserted out-of-town roads where on the second lap (once the half-marathon runners peeled off) it felt a bit solitary at times. The cure for that, of course, is for more runners to enter this marathon!

In short: Mundane route, v.hot day with no shelter or shade. Got cooked. Marshalls made this race for me.
In full: This route needs to be altered to cut out the twists in the last stages of the laps. Your on the edge of Dartmoor and yet it does not even touch the potential of that area.

In short: Two laps, some traffic but mostly quiet roads, well marshalled (more marshalls than spectators on the route)and lots of drink stations.
