In short: Bring your Karabiners and Crampons In full: This race effectively starts at 6.5 miles. However, it does NOT (sadly) end 1.5 miles later when/if you reach the summit. Take your time to gently jog down to Penshurst (taking in the beautiful countryside)then don your climbing gear for Fordcombe Hill - leaving enough juice in the batteries for the 5 mile home run. In short: A great half, with a challenging hill climb. In full: Really enjoyed this run. I too incorporated this into my London Marathon training. It's a great run in it's own right and exceeded all my expectations. I ran a PB and I (weirdly) rather liked the hill challenge at around the 8 mile stage. Definitely do some hill training and leave a bit extra in the tank for the climb and you'll be cruising on up. Would love to do it again next year. Date of review: September 10, 2008

In short: This was our 1st half marathon and really enjoyed it, nothing can prepare you for the hill at mile 7 but all well worth it at the end!!! In full: We were begginers and enjoyed it so much we are doing another half marathon only 5 week later!! The marshals at the start were fantastic but needed more encouragement at the end and the marshalls were packing up to leave and didnt notice there was around another 100 runners to finsh... so definitly could be improved! The scenery was fantastic and weather was very good which made the couse even more enjoyable. :) Date of review: March 11, 2008

In short: It's all been said before but a well organised race.... In full: First time I've run it but will definately be back next year and to have an Olympic Champion to start the race gave it the edge over other races... Thanks to those involved!!! Date of review: March 7, 2008

In short: A thoroughy enjoyable morning's work! In full: I was meant to be running with a friend but his wife went into labour on the morning of the race so (unsurprisingly!) I ran on my own. I am wondering if he arranged the two to coincide but i'll give him the benefit of the doubt (this time!) I was using the race as a training run for the London Marathon so set myself the target of finishing around the 1:55 mark (my PB is 1:42). As it was, I finished in 1:52 but had plenty of energy left so was very pleased with my morning's work. The atmosphere was great all the way round and even the mild challenge of Spring Hill didn't seem to dampen too many spirits. I'll be back next year and will be sure to drag my friend round too! In short: Tough... only because I didn't train! In full: If you make the effort to train, especially do a little hill work, you won't struggle like I did. There should be more drinks stations on the route, and one or two serving an energy wouldn't go amiss either. Date of review: March 1, 2008
