In short: wet but worth it In full: really nice atmosphere, lots of support from people, marshals and drummers all the way round. The rain didnt spoil it. Kelly Holmes was lovely and supportive, she seemed to have time to chat with everyone. Not the flattest of races but half-marathons dont get much better than this. Always nice to be able to receive a shirt at the end and add it to the collection. Date of review: April 4, 2010

In short: Very wet but loved every minutes even the six inch deep puddles In full: A very challenging hill but fantastic support from the marshalls and local people all the way round. My best ever time for a half marathon, not sure how I did that. Really lovely to be welcomed over the line by Kelly Holmes, she was just as wet as the rest of us. A wonderful event and yes I will be back. Date of review: March 13, 2010

In short: Perferction. In full: “PERFECTION, PERFECTION, PERFECTION .†This is a Karen Samuel Special and probably a Runners World Delight. Tunbridge Half Marathon is extremely popular and attracts all types of runners from all over the Country and the race is always a full house. Even though it was raining cats and dogs, Runners would not have missed it for the WORLD.
Tunbridge Half Marathon was voted as the 2009 Runners World Winner for the most improved running event and also Ranked number 43 in Runners World ‘Voted Readers top 50 races.’ In 2009 this race received 129 ratings on Runners World web-site.
Tunbridge half marathon has a big surprise waiting for you at mile 7, a hill, just be prepared for that hill and be warned that it is no mole hill!! In this race you will also have the honour and privilege to see or meet double gold medallist Olympic runner Dame Vera Lynn. Dame Kelly Holmes is a very busy celebrity but always find’s time for us meek runners. I would like to personally thank her from myself and also from the English Olympic Marathon squad, I mean Orpington Road Runners for attending this race .
Tunbridge Harriers thank you for providing us with very professional and highly skilful Bloco Fogo drummers. I really enjoyed the drumming I could not stop myself from dancing. Also the chanting, cheerful, Cheerleaders from Cheerfit. (That’s a tongue twister). Let me cut to the chase: Tunbridge half marathon is a chip timing Race, the results came as quick as a flash. This road race is just one lap course, which is well marshalled. The route is hilly in places, just be prepared for mile seven where there is that infamous beast of a hill which is over a mile long and very steep, you could almost touch the sky!
This is a great race with a wonderful atmosphere. For your achievement you will receive a beautiful goody bag, medal and a technical t-shirt that fits! And a banana which was a top banana! Well done Tunbridge Harriers for organising such brilliant races, and also congratulations for your pride and joy Eridge 10 for last year-for being the NUMBER 1 Runners World Top Favourite Race in 2009. To the Race Director Sarah Russell and Tunbridge Harriers I commend you for organising such a perfect race! Also to all those happy bunnies marshals who braved the rain and wind and who shouted lots of encouragement to us runners. Thanks also to the kind Scouts. Tunbridge Harriers have raised the bar and smashed it right through the ceiling. Well done to everyone involved. Yes you have upped your game. I also was utterly impressed with the 500ml liquid hand soap in the portaloos – that was a touch of class. This race will blow most of the UK’s half marathons out of the water, because of the splendid, smooth, slick, and superb organisation, which was outstanding. The proof was definitely in the pudding. There’s no doubt in my mind that this race is one of the greatest organised race that I have participated in. This is a probably one of the Nation’s half Marathon favourites. The Race Director paid particular attention to minute details which made this race stood out above the rest. To all you budding Race Directors out there I would like to quote a few words from my Dad “You must listen and learn.†Thank you Dad.
Well done to all “Your race is the cat’s whiskers.â€
Look away now if you are a Tunbridge Harriers. Runners to be perfectly honest I was actually going to run Portsmouth joggers Meon Valley 20. But due to a change of the weather conditions on Sunday morning it was a last minute decision to run Tunbridge half. Also just to keep my family happy. They were really worried for my health and safety! (I think they thought I might drown in the rain). One of the kids mentioned I might get lost- WHAT ME?! I must say, I was really looking forwarding to tasting those homemade cakes that Portsmouth Joggers were raving about – maybe next time. Please send my regards to Sharon.

In short: Weather couldn't put a dampner on it In full: In spite of tough weather conditions (cold, rained the whole time, a series of deep and long puddles to wade through) and a very challenging middle section this was really well organised and enjoyed. Whole roads (or at least carriageways in one direction) shut off for the runners and amazing support from the locals even out in the sticks. A shame that there's no obvious transport from the train station to the race as turnaround time doesn't allow much prep, but that's barely a complaint. Date of review: March 8, 2010

In short: One particularly punishing hill, great organisation and super goody bag and 'high fived' Dame Kelly Holmes!e In full: A really superbly organised event. My first half marathon - and quite a toughy. Despite the horrendous weather, running ankle deep in water and hideous mile long hill ... I am planning on going back next year! Supportive marshalls and friendly locals - some banging drums, lots handing out jelly babies. A fab event! Date of review: March 7, 2010
