In short: This was my first marathon but previous training weeks had been in rain and cold so lovely sunny day was a new challenge! .
In full: The varied scenery (villages and forest)and friendly fellow runners helped take the mind off the miles and I really enjoyed the experience. Finished fresher but slower than had expected so suggests that I could push my self more next time and stop slowing down to talk to the ponies! I found the water stations really great at every two miles or so - meant I only needed to carry energy drink with me. Well done to the organisers, marshalls and fellow runners!!

In short: Very tough challenging course, very scenic and charming but very testing. Not enough water stations in the second half and no drinks at the end!!!
In full: Very good organisation at the start area, slick and well sign posted, started bang on time. The route itself was out of this world, very beautiful and scenic, lots of picture postcard distractions on route. No problems with local traffic (I must have been one of the luckier one's from what I've heard). Water stations were few and far between in the last 13 miles, and no sports drinks at all along the whole route ??? - what's that all about ???.

Slightly zigg-zaggy finish area, but not an issue, biggest gripe is that there were no drinks (or food) available at the finish for us marathon runners, and no working showers either - never mind though - scenary more than made up for the school boy errors at the end. Great race atmosphere between runners, and the spectators and marshalls were brilliant.

In short: Well organised event in a wonderful location on a beautiful day
In full: Very friendly event - really enjoyable. Kind of reassuring that so many runners had similar experiences to my own. As usual (I never learn) - went off too quickly for the conditions and paid the price later. Had to walk / run the last 6-7 miles but still finished 3.45 so inside my 4 hour target. Could have been so much better but that the marathon for you. The water stations in the last few miles couldn't come up quickly enough for me and I had to resort to sucking water off the sponges (not pleasant taste - but desperation had set in). Great cameraderie between fellow runners - thanks to the chap who gave me some of his energy drink at 24 miles. Personally I had no problems with traffic - the marshals were superb - thanks to all who made this a great event. Will aim to return next year and pace myself better!

In short: Good Race but you need to get your pacing right
In full: I suffered from a severe headache for the week prior to the race but went for it anyway. The organisation was good despite aggressive drivers. The hills are tough but I reckon given I was not 100% I went too fast in the first 10 miles and started to pay for it at 14 miles so the hills were going to hurt me at that point anyway. In guess I was not the only one because I could see loads of people walking bits of the last 10K. Despite walking for 15 minutes of the last 10K due to dehydration and no energy I still did a goodish time. I would like to thank those who supported us all and who gave me extra water drink at 20 miles and the carbo gel which gave me an energy boost that I needed. Would happily do it again next year and improve by learning from the training errors of this year.

In short: Once again Hot and Hilly, but a lovely race.
In full: Well orgainised, and even though I've run this before the hills still take a toll. Lovely race though, beautiful new forest and a sense of joy when you finish, a PB on this course for me this year although miles off my normal half time.

Thanks to all concerned see you all next year.

In short: Great challenge in a glorious setting
In full: I remember thinking over the last five miles whether I would have been happier with streaming rain to wash away the pain! Then you finish and realise that you loved every minute. (Bit of a to-do with some impatient motorists at a busy junction/water station at around mile 23. Apologies to any non-motorists who heard my language!). Great race. Everyone should do it for a real marathon experience.
