In short: A really dull course but a well-organised and friendly race. In full: The 11am start in 30 degrees of heat didn't help, but there was still a good crowd of runners at the start. Unfortunately the two-loop route is dull, run mostly on roads through the more industrial part of the town, and although flat, there are lots of twists and turns which limit the PB potential.
There is also very little shade on the course, so big thanks to the friendly local who turned his garden hose on the suffering runners! As it was my first 10M race it was a PB, but the heat affected my performance and I know I could do a lot better in less adverse circumstances. Overall, I might do it again as it's near to home and easy to get to. Date of review: November 30, 2005

In short: Fast, flat course with very supportive marshalls. In full: Definite PB course, good facilities at school, great marshalls and good water stations. Not exactly inspiring views (around industrial and residential areas), 11am start time too late in Sunday's heat, sign-posting to car park not great. Date of review: September 6, 2005

In short: Second time for this one - one problem is excessive heat but they can't control everything. Date of review: September 5, 2005

In short: Good course, not too hilly but an 11am start in this weather was murderous. Excellent organisation, marshalls very encouraging. Welwyn Garden City not the prettiest backdrop! Date of review: September 4, 2005

In short: Excellent organisation, very hot though In full: A well organised race, but could start earlier given the hot weather in recent years. Plenty of water at the stations though and well manned. I'll be back next year! Date of review: September 4, 2005

In short: Flat course, encouraging marshals and very well organised. In full: First time I've ever done a distance over 10K and although it was hard work (and hot) I was very pleased with my finishing time. I was certainly helped along by the plentiful marshals - offering words of encouragement. Route wasn't very scenic - but some nice leafy residential streets. Date of review: September 4, 2005

In short: Organised, plentiful (bottled) water, friendly, fast and a nice medal - highly recommended but don't expect scenic as well In full: In my short racing career the most organised 10 miler I've done. Marshalls and Police ensured everything went like clockwork, bottled water at abundant water stations, with plenty of helpers. A nice finishing medal and a unique design (so far), with results and placings announced as you finish. Don't expect scenery and car parking is in the surrounding industrial estate, but these in no way detract from the race itself. Oh by the way - bloody hot - 84 degrees and a 11am start!
