In short: Really enjoyed this one,lots of fun and a bit of work too.
In full: I didn't know what to expect having never run over in the North-West,but I'll be back for sure,there were a couple of problems-cattle grids uncovered and as the race organiser admits the race entry is probably up to bursting point for the course it's run over-however it's a really friendly race with a couple of sharp climbs that get the legs going,finishing on a track is always nice as was the numerous water stations,large crowds and very well stocked goody bag.A few people have taken issue with the start but I thought it was fairly obvious as to where it was and liked the walk en masse towards it which seemed to help get rid of the stop/start/shuffle that many large fields cause.Lots to see on the way round with a couple of decent views too.

In short: Excellent day out, decent crowds, good atmosphere, good organisation and an bvery good goody bagg at the end!
In full: this was my forst great cumbrian run and i will be back in 2008 for another go! Organisation was good in nearly all regards. Had no problems parking, picking up race number and getting to the start. Only a few problems of not covering some cattle grids though you could run to the side - but this was an oversight and is normally done. Shame the park areas were not wholly closed off to cars so there were one or two that were encountered but where i was in the field it seemed easy to avoid them. Course was good and scenic, mildly tougher than the Great North Run which i did 2 weeks prior but not too hard that it should out anyone off, and i finished in a similar time. Goody bag at the end was generous and finished up nicely what was a good run and a great day. I only travelled 60 miles for this but it is worth a longer trip. See you there in 2008!

In short: Good course with sound marshalling and plenty of water. Good size to ensure plenty of company without crowding
In full: A good well organised race over a fair flattish course.

Major Pluses:

* The course
* The marshalling
* The finish
* The water stations
* The gift

Minor gripes

* A marshal on the entrance to the Sands centre car park sending people to the empty park next door would have been an idea as everyone turned into the Sands centre and had to come out again
2) Not sure about walk to start
3) A tent to drop bags in at the stadium would have been handy
4) Why not have registration at the stadium - there's plenty of room.

These really are minor suggestions in the great scheme of things. Thanks everyone for organising a cracking race.

In short: Great event for a beginner but we missed out on a medal or glass presentation somehow.
In full: Preferred the finish last year where we were channeled in through the tents to receive goody bag etc. we just seemed to wander around at the finish this year. Still really enjoyed the day though, thanks

In short: Another great day at this friendly and thoroughly enjoyable event
In full: This was my second year at the Carlisle Half, and once again managed a PB there in excellent conditions - dry and bright and amazingly mild for October. The race organiser had taken on board a number of comments from last year, leading to several improvments, including an overhead banner at the start line, improved bag storage and chip timing. With a field of around 2000, the race is big enough to provide a sense of occasion while remaining small enough to retain a friendly atmosphere. As the organiser has acknowledged, the numbers have outgrown the current course, as the front of the pack ran into the back of the field on the initial loop round Bitts Park and the return section along the A road was a bit tight for space, requiring a check for traffic before overtaking. These are minor niggles though, as the sections through Rickerby Park and the Eden Valley villages are glorious. Definitely one of my favourite events - I'm looking forward to next year already.
