In short: Brillant race, very well organised
In full: Made up with this race, its taken me nine years to get under 2 hours and finally at long last I've done it, 1hr 52. Organisation was really good, course was a good mix of town and country and I will be back next year.

In short: Great new course, brilliant atmosphere and a big pb for me!
In full: I've run the Cumbrian Run a few times before and I have to say that it was by far my most enjoyable. I enjoyed it so much that I managed a pb by over 5 minutes and my first sub 1:40 half marathon!

The marshalls, cadets and spectators were all very supportive. The course had minor undulations but it made it much more interesting, as did the scenery along the new route. A great mix of city, parkland and country villages.

The t-shirt, medal and goody bag also helped to make it great value for money. It's always good to get a little something to eat and drink at the end of a long run.

I also really enjoyed starting at the Castle and finishing in the Stadium. I hope this course stays for future years.

A few minor improvements could make it an even better race than it already is, including:

- More pre race information. I thought Mike's blog on the Cumbrian Run website was a great idea, but unfortunately there were only two posts in the months leading up to the race. A few more next year, especially building up to race day, would be good.

- Lots more toilets at the start.

- Speakers within the Castle so that runners can hear what's going on at the start.

- Advance notice of water stations would be useful to allow runners to take enery gels beforehand.

However, these are minor gripes and it was definitely one of the most enjoyable half marathons I've done.

In short: Better course - Good atmosphere and excellent organisation
In full: Mike - don't beat yourself up just because there are one or two minor complaints. You can always improve on any event and I you already know what to do! You'll never please everybody. The new route is 100% better. The chips allow for a steady safe start without everyone tripping over each other and the city centre section lets everyone sort out an early pace. The undulations make for a nice variation in the course and give your legs a rest (unlike the challenges og the Langdale half). The crowd cheery and marshals/water station assistants were excellent. This event will only go from strength to strength (please keep the course though). Good luck with next year. I'll be there with my wife and anyone else I can pursuade.

In short: Quite simply one of the best races on the calendar
In full: Once again a fantastic event made even better by the new outstanding course, loved every minute of it. great en route support, friendly marshals, excellent organisation and I personally don't think it was that hilly. Will definitely be back next year for another crack.
