In short: Cold & muddy, but worth the early start!
In full: What more can you expect of a race in South Wales in December- cold, wet, windy and very muddy! Seemed to be lots of people entered, which was fun, but made it a squash for the 1st few km. The route was pretty, though spent more time looking at the floor to avoid the potholes and muddy puddles- I lost this battle in the end! As others have mentioned, there was a pretty steep hill around 3km & 8km, but actually the even steeper downhill that followed was more of a killer! Overall, a great race for getting in the Christmas spirit/finding an excuse for that extra mince pie/escaping Chrismas shopping...! Would do it again!

In short: Not for the faint hearted
In full: I've only done one 10k before this which was a flat road race so I found this difficult and the weather was appaling. Bizarrely though I got a pb. No complaints about the organisation except there were very few cups of water being handed out at the halfway point and I got none :-(

In short: Jolly good festive fun
In full: Good organisation, friendly marshals, great crowd support (well it does help when you're dressed as an angel and everyone else is in waterproofs!) and free hot chocolate. The weather didn't spoil it although the hill was a bit muddy. The only problem was the directions from the M4 only applied for people coming the other way(!) so might help to put up a big sign on the motorway roundabout. Well done to the RNLI, the cheque's in the post :-)

In short: No rain, no gain
In full: Weather put a bit of a dampner on the atmospher and there was a sense that we needed to get on with it before freezing to death. The hill separated the stags from the bucks, but gave a cross country feel to the race. Did not appreciate the kids handing out the water at 5k messing about and not having any system. Also on the downside was parents letting their children play in areas people were running, but those few niggles aside, I'm glad I took part.

In short: A really great race. Horrible weather but a great warm atmosphere made up for it.
In full: My partner and I are getting married on 8th december at Margam park next year so it is a place that is really special to us. I think everyone would agree that you don't get scenery much better on a race. ~One tough climb around the 3 or 8K mark but its short so doesn't hurt too bad. A thoroughly enjoyable race. Will definatley be doing it again, though perhaps not next year!
