In short: Wonderful atmosphere and I had a great time. It felt great to get to the finish line and get my first ever medal! only one hiccup was no marshall at one corner and lots of us got lost for a minute. But all in all a fantastic race. Date of review: January 10, 2011
In short: Lack of marshall at crucial junction on the course In full: I had looked forward to this local scenic flat race for months. Lost sight of first bloke, who was following the bike, come to a junction, no marshall. Took wrong turn. Soon realised race was over. So so dissapointed, was second at the time. Jogged in. Many others, behind me also went wrong. The lady organisor, to be fair was very apologetic. I had to get the dissapointment out of my system, so I went back later in the afternoon and ran the correct course, on my own. I am not angry anymore. Afterall it was all for a really wortwhile charity, but I will never know could I have caught up the bloke in front and won the race. There is always next year. Date of review: November 22, 2010
In short: Brilliant just-out-of-London scenery and friendly In full: What an unfortunate balls-up on the marshalling. I was in that front group that only did about 8km instead of 10km. There was no one at a crucial junction - we chose right, it should have been left. Indeed a shame for scenic, well organised race which I would still do again next year. In short: GOOD ATMOSPHERE, LOVELY PEOPLE BUT BIG COCK UP ON MARSHALLING In full: I really liked almost everything about this race; easy parking really close to the start, nice smallish crowd, really friendly marshalls, lovely surroundings and no toilet queues!
Unfortunately they made a huge mistake in not positioning a marshall at a turn coming up to 3 miles in. Resulted in a lot of the really fast finishers cutting out a whole mile of the route and for me having to do an about turn as other runners came running back towards me saying they'd gone the wrong way. I was luckier than some in that I lost no more than a minute but mildly annoyed as would have been a pb without the wrong way detour.
Such a shame as for a small local race I really liked everything else about it but given it was such a monumental mistake to make can't give it any more than an average rating overall. Can't get annoyed about it though as was a charity race after all. Date of review: November 21, 2010
