In short: Fantastic organisation, tremendous support and a course that weaves around some great countryside.
In full: The organisation is fantastic and the support around the course is brilliant. From the kids (and adults) manning the water stations to the residents and supporters who come out en-mass to cheer everyone one - It's Brilliant. Pre run - the club house serves pre race cups of tea, coffee and the obigatory bacon sarnie which are reasonably priced, although digesting these in time is your responsibility. Running Bear have a tent on site so any 'forgotten' item, such as a hat or a pair of gloves for those cold March mornings is easily obtained.

The course starts of very straight forward, but has a sharp left turn just after the first mile. Watch-out for congestion and discarded drink bottles here. Apart from this it is a nice 'undulating' course that is car safe and gives you space to call your own. There is one nasty hill just before the 10 mile mark, but the key is don't stop!

I loved it the first time I ran it and will enter each year until I find something different to do on Sunday mornings in March.

In short: Good race, well supported. Needs chip timing though!
In full: A well organised event, other than the rather shambolic timing system. But all involved were very good humoured and friendly, and it was a pleasure to run. T.shirt and medallion thing much improved on previous years too! An enjoyable day out.

In short: Why go all the way up the M1 !
In full: OK, the Great North will always be a special one, but scenic, fast, PB potential ? This was my first real try out at the 1/2 M having done lots of 10k's, and I knocked 24 minutes off my last GNR time ! Didn't notice the hills, apart from a couple of great downward ones. Nice to see the support from the locals and stewards, genuine support, though I agree about the b.b.q....as bad as the bloke with the beer barrel in Newcastle. This is probably my nearest quality 1/2 M, I can't believe I left it so long to enter, but it's going to be my benchmark PB one from now on....unless I do better in Blackpool.

In short: Not as flat as you might think, but a scenic course. Plenty of encouragement and local interest.
In full: Parking a bit of a problem if you want a quick get away and ot easy to pass early on if you start at the back, unless you start weaving, but these are the only negatives I can think of.

Well marshalled, good support, plenty of toilets, food and drink if needed and reasonably priced, good water stations, momento and goody bag. All in all quite pleased with the race & organisation.
