In short: Good mix of hills (luckily more 'downs' towards the end!), great scenery aside from the estates. Would def do it again (tho i'll prefer it when it's not on new years eve itself..) Date of review: January 4, 2007
In short: Worth travelling the distance for. Picturesque/scenic & thoroughly enjoyable In full: Like many others, missed the start. Dont think it was anybobys fault. Thought I left the hall in plenty of time, but got "log jammed" going down the pathway beside the school. Really enjoyed the course (except for the "estate" sections), and great mix of "ups" & "downs". Nice to do most of the ups on the way though. I must be strange as I thought weather was fine, not too cold, and the snow made it a pleasure to be out getting rid of some of the Xmas excess. I also would praise the Marshalls who were all cheerful & helpful, and was pleasantly surprised to see the groups of spectators, in the village 2-3 miles from the finish. Gave me a little, well needed boost. Will do it again next year, for certain. Date of review: January 4, 2006
In short: Great way to work off the turkey In full: I enjoyed the race very much, after 12 years since I last did it. Yes, it was snowy and hilly, but full marks to the marshalls who braved the weather to guide us. I liked having Fast Feet sports there to pick up a bargain or two. One man forgot his shoes and had to buy a pair on the day! (No it wasn't me). Only criticism, I was runner No 611 (David Thompson Stopsley Striders), and completed in 74:58, but wasn't listed in the results! Date of review: January 3, 2006
In short: A magnificent and challenging finale to the year. Instructions for the start were clearly stated and announced, so if anyone missed the start it was not the organisors fault. A really cool race. Blinking freezing in fact! Great fun. Date of review: December 31, 2005
In short: A great calorie burner brilliantly organised! In full: I enjoyed seeing places I used to go to when I lived in Cottered 20 years ago. I didn't recognise any fellow pupils from Ward Freman!! Date of review: December 30, 2005
In short: Tough race not for the fainthearted In full: Organisation was a bit muddled runners just going out in spurts. The race started with lots of runners still going getting to the start. Lots of Undulating !! when does this become hilly it felt hilly to me. Maybe Im a lightweight Date of review: December 29, 2005
In short: Do this run and get a trophy In full: I liked the Mars bar and juice in the goody bag. Better than usual crap you get (malt bread, who likes malt bread?). Trophy thing was a little odd though. Course was a little strange in parts, more hills than expected, houses and then the country but 10 miles is 10 miles.
