In short: Something for everybody... In full: The organising and marshalling are first class and once out of the residential areas and into the undulating country lanes this is a smashing event. The 10 mile distance seems to encourage more experienced runners, but even those at the rear of the pack felt part of the event. I will just have to up my game next year! In short: Post Christmas race to shake out the cobwebs In full: Great conditions for the race this year. Not windy, not too warm or too cold. The scenery in the race is a curious mix between loops in housing estates and open countryside. A few hills to keep you interested. I suffered in the last two miles after partying a little too hard in the preceding three weeks, but still managed a PB over the race 2 years ago. Will do it again as it is a good break from the debauchery over the break. Date of review: January 3, 2012

In short: A great 10 miler with slight hills offering pleasant views of the local countryside, great way to round off the year, and run off Christmas eating. In full: Undulating and winding roads in places, with mixture of track-roads and well-used roads. Appears to be suitable for first-timers and the experienced. Goody bag was provided with well deserved refreshments. Based in a beautiful small town. ADVICE: Arrive early to get easy parking - as limited. Date of review: January 1, 2012

In short: Uplifting, friendly and well organised post Christmas blast! In full: I agree with previous rater, I woke up wondering how on earth I was going to run 10 miles feeling like the Christmas feasting had taken it's toll, waiting in the school gym before the race there were a lot of very fast looking club runners (mad souls like me! Once we had started though all my doubts disappeared and I had a fantastically enjoyable run. Afterwards felt great and had banished all sluggishness. I got a good time for me and it seemed from the results like there were a lot of very fast times, although I would say the course is definitely undulating with an unwelcome hill at the end! Will hope to be back next year, thanks to the organisers for putting the race on over the festive season! Date of review: December 30, 2011

In short: Very good race, well organised. In full: Waking up knowing I was running in a ten mile race in Buntingford made me wonder (after to much to eat and drink over xmas) why I'd entered a race so close to Christmas. I went out steady on a very nice course which takes you through lanes and countryside. I was told about the hills on mile 3 etc so saved some energy for them but to be honest the hills arent as bad as you think. I ended up running a fast last mile beating my PB. The officials and locals were very supportive throughout. The race was very well organised and I really enjoyed it. After the race I realised why I'd entered a race so close to Christmas because I love running and this course is one I will be most definatly running again in 2012. Date of review: December 29, 2011

In short: Well organised, great atmosphere & the best race memento ever :) In full: Absolutely love my little shoe trophy - incredibly generous race memento, thankyou! Marshals were excellent, and enjoyed the course. A perfect race to end the year. Date of review: December 28, 2011

In short: Nice course, some lengthy uphill stretches but nice downhills to match where you can push the pace. My spectator commented on the best cakes at a race ever (Victoris sponge). Date of review: December 28, 2011

In short: This is always a good race: friendly and fun. In full: The weather was almost too warm this year: I like it cold, wet and challenging. (But not windy.) Otherwise, a great race as always, and I was very grateful to the organisers for allowing last year's entrants to carry their entry over (the run was cancelled last year because of the weather). They must have made a significant loss doing this, so many thanks. Date of review: December 28, 2011

In short: Well organised end of year 10 miler In full: A very well organised race which was blessed with ideal weather for running (in 2010 the race was cancelled due to snow and ice). Its a tough course with some good hills, mainly in the first half, and the last mile. I really enjoyed it, congratulations to Royston Runners for staging such a good event Date of review: December 28, 2011

In short: Good race once you're out in the country In full: Twisty/switch-back start through housing estates is a pain but it gets much better when you get out in the country. Great refreshments! Proper china mugs - none of those plastic cups. Fantastic range of home-made cakes - lemon drizzle, honey. Had to apologise to lady on stall as Christmas over-indulgence (and more to come that afternoon/evening) meant I couldn't partake! Date of review: December 28, 2011
