In short: Toughest 10 miler i've done but the scenery makes it all worthwhile. Even managed a quicker time than last year and the hills didn't seem quite so suicidal! This race must be tackled at least once in your life. Definitely a racing highlight. and high

In short: Hilly!
In full: I foolishly hadn't read any reviews before I signed up and was hoping for a nice flat 10 miler. Oops! I did query the description of it as being hard in the first couple of miles - it lulls you into a false sense of security before you tackle that uphill section, running it into the wind didn't help either! I stumbled across the race as somewhere to stop off on my way to the Lakes for Easter, and I'm glad I did!

In short: A proper rib tickler!
In full: The first 2 miles of the race are just the warm up (mainly down hill), with your first decent view just as you come out of the village. The undulating course until 9 miles is definitely more UP hill rather than DOWN.
The incline between 5-7 miles is not for the faint hearted, a grueller in anyones book, but a chalenge not to be missed. Another fairly long climb before a final decent back into the village.
Lancashire / Bowland area at its best!
Congratulations and Thank you to all the organisers and competitors, (and the villagers for their support).

In short: Ouch!
In full: There are some races that leave you feeling proud when you cross the finishing line; this is one of them. Once you put aside the pain, you can appreciate a glorious run through the Lancashire countryside - with sea views in a couple of places. On that last point, I was amazed at how there came to be more uphill stretches than downhills, even though the downhills weren't especically steep! I was put in mind of 'The Magic Road' in that episode of 'Father Ted'! Oh well, in spite of the wind, hailstone and brutal hills, I'll be seeing you all again next year. Hope you all recover soon!

In short: Hilly, scenic, cold, windy, tough, hated it but loved it!
In full: Thanks to the marshalls who helped me get to the start, albeit I was one and half minutes late for it, looking at backs of heads and bottoms in distance. Too much stress at start meant ran too fast in early stages, only to let the hills and wind slow us down dramatically, but nice downhill finish, with wind behind. Great tea and cake too. Thanks again to all the organisers. I'll be back, but on time next year!

In short: Way more hilly than i imagined, 'undulating' does not cover it... Beautiful views though and friendly banter on the way round make it definitely worthwile
