In short: Tough start, fantastic views
In full: The first hill never seems to end, but gives opportunity to look at the views, because the downhills are steep and need concentration. It had very kindly stopped raining for race day and was great fun. Kendal mint cake in plentiful supply.

In short: Very Good!
In full: I chose this race because of its beautiful location, and whilst it’s nowhere near as spectacular as the Derwentwater event at Keswick, it’s still wonderful. The almost 1,000 feet of near relentlessly steep ascent out of Coniston - up The Old Man - was torturous, but the views make it worthwhile. And towards the finish there is very pleasant stretch alongside the Lake itself. It was well marshalled, with a party like atmosphere at HQ (complete with steel drum band and ‘Mexican’ waves), and with plenty of car parking space. At £21 I think these Lakeland Trail events are a little expensive compared to some, but the scenery is 2nd to none.

In short: Fantastic after the first brutal 4k
In full: superb race, fantastic weather, beautiful scenery, brilliant atmosphere at the start/finish area and out on the hills. Kids fun trails a really nice touch. Will be back next year for this and the Ullswater one.

In short: Another great race from the Lakeland Trails Team
In full: Usual friendly atmosphere that is the hallmark of these races. Well done to everyone for getting the race on despite the floods and rain the previous day. Thankfully the sun shone on the day of the event.

See you all next year

In short: First 4km are really tough, but this is an awesome event!
In full: As the previous reviews have said, this is a great event but the first 4km are really tough. Underfoot is wet, slippy and rocky which didn't help me on the way down as other runners were flying past me. Next time, I'll push myself to run all of the quarry hills, because I was stuck in a queue later which gives you time to get your breath back.

In short: Very enjoyable trail course
In full: Lakeland Trails excellent as ever, lovely atmosphere. Disappointed that despite crossing the line with race number in tact I wasn't recorded on the results list, good job I'm still not up there!

In short: This series gets better and better
In full: The scenery is jaw-dropping, the organisation is like clockwork. Everywhere you look there are people smiling and chatting befire the race. Throughout, the runners laugh and cajole each other. An absolute top marks race from start to finish
