In short: was alot better then i thought it was going to be
In full: i couldn't thought the brighton marathon,
as i started near the front, there seemed to be plenty of room to move, i thought the roads were wide enough.
the whole day went great, the weather was perfect, we had strong winds between about miles 7-10, because it was so open.
there were plenty of people everywhere cheering you on, a very good race.
and will do again

In full: Very good race, conditions were very good & fairly flat. Glad to do a marathon again with carryable water/Powerade (though runners need to be educated that Powerade is for drinking and carrying - not throwing away after 1 drink) and at just the right places. There will always be a few issues: eg Water pouches were inconsistent but could still be used; arrived at Park & Ride before 7:30 but bus didn't leave until after 8:15 and there were plenty still waiting for the next bus; tight course and plenty of slow runners early on. Overall a very enjoyable day!

In short: did a pb 3.14 and loved it.
In full: Got put in the middle pen. Was dissapointed as I new I could get held back early on.After a loop of the start and running into Brighton proper I managed to hit 7.20 mile pace. I was a bit nervous of the hills but these are easily dealt with. Worst bit was the ferocious cross wind at around 8-11 miles trying to blow you into the sea. The straight to the Power Station was grim but every marathon has something ugly. London marathon coming out of Canary Wharf past Billingsgate is no better. Organisation was excellent. You could even get porridge at the start. An excellent idea. I really enjoyed the weekend as well. Make the most of it with your family. They can have a great time too.

In short: Fantastic day!
In full: Superb day in which achieved a time i never expected, as last year i hated the road out to Ovingdean where there is little support but didn't find the power station too bad. Got on very well with the water pouches and found them much easier to carry than the bottles and it was good to see there were many more clif blocks and gels being handed out this year as well. Support from the public was also great in places but quiet in others, have heard a rumour that route is to be changed again next year so maybe this will solve some issues?
Overall, i found the organisation of the event excellent from start to finish and have signed up again for next year. Bit expensive for next year and a nuisance that have to pick up pack from expo but hope event itself will be just as good.

In short: Fantastic Marathon - seems to be going from strength to strength
In full: I took a charity place for this event when I got rejected again for London. What a great event - the crowds are fantastic for the majority of the race - obviously the well documented power station area being the exception. I certainly needed their support in the last few miles along the seafront to the finish. I've already registered for next years event!

The organisation seemed very good - although I was awarded a bib that would have placed me in the wrong start corral at the expo they swapped me over with no fuss. The park and ride was great as we had elected to stay out in Worthing. However next year we're planning to pay a bit more and stay in the centre of Brighton. The only blip was that it wasn't obvious which queue to wait in to catch the buses back to the various car parks.

Like many people I was really not sure about the water pouches - at times I couldn't get anything out at all!

Overall a great race that shows that you don't need to be in London to take part in a "massive" marathon!

In short: Oh i do like to be beside the seaside
In full: I decided to enter the Brighton Marathon as the London Marathon have changed the automatic 5 rejections rule. Entry was for 18000 but only 9000 ran on the day. I found the event enjoyable but atmosphere in places was patchy. Weather was great and support at start and along the sea front was superb (thanks everyone who turned out). Minor faults, the price is dearer than the London Marathon, I paid for the "pay and display" , parked up and waited along with many others at the "pay and display" sign in the carpark, after half an hour someone asked the parking volunteers if we were waiting in the right place but they did not know. Alas we were not and eventually had to exit the car park cross the road and walk down to the bus stop, and finally if you enter for 2013 you will have to collect your marathon pack from the Marathon exhibition on one of the 2 days before the race. But all in all a good race.

In short: Great event
In full: Very good race. Was windier this year but mainly a cross wind. The pacers did not really start in the right places. As the 3 3.15 , .3.30 and 3.45 pacers all started at the front of the red quarrel and there was masses running with them so was hard to manoeuvre in front on them in first few miles. Should be starting un different places. Did not get on well with wAter pouches offered .Brighton marathon app , has changed my position 5 times so not 100 pc accurate. Having said all that still a fantastic day plenty of crowds .

In short: Good alternative to London Marathon but this year the cold north wind made me perform badly as exposed from the North and suffered!
In full: As said a good alternative to London and for me easier to get to. Less crowds this year especially along road to Ovingdean and Marina area, the Hove seafront part and Power station as well compared to last two years. New Church Road had a lot of people. Felt Boundary Road turn could of had more people in the street - no music or anything - very bland. Also Kemp Town Village - the roads were closed why not go through there - we have enough seafront anyway. maybe the route could be looked at again. If you want a PB Berlin or London might be better for you.

In short: Awesome weekend by the coast!
In full: I thoroughly enjoyed the Brighton Marathon 2012. I did the London one 2 years ago and this BM was awesome. The size is perfect and the atmosphere brilliant - the crowd put there all into it! Like others have said, the part round the power station is very grim, but hey, its an endurance event, get on with it! Highly recommended event.
