In short: All in all a very well ran club event for a decent half marathon.... a long (but not steep) hill at 4-5m and a drag at 10-11m, but still my overall PB course and favourite Half. Date of review: August 29, 2012

In short: Glad to be back at this one In full: Very glad to have done the Pewsey half this year, even though I was physically not in condition for it, and my thoughts were elsewhere.
Despite the lack of training and a much slower time than usual, I very much enjoyed this event again having missed it last year and a DNF in 2010.
I don't think I realised in previous years how pretty the scenery in this race is, possibly because I had more time to take it in this year, being so slow!
Very well organised, free parking at the start, clear instructions and well marked with lots of friendly and encouraging marshalls. Four water stations were a godsend on a warm day, but an energy drink or jelly babies might not have gone amiss.
Very friendly crowd, even if it was predominantly club runners. Lovely home made cakes, and a nice memento (a pump bag) to go with a decent t-shirt. Personally I don't understand why people prefer a medal, it's not as if you can do anything with them.
Look forward to seeing you again next year PVRC and a special thank you to Mark Anderson for being understanding of my situation and the nice lady marshall who was willing to keep a t-shirt for me had I been out on the course for longer than I was. Date of review: August 28, 2012

In short: Nice scenery, nice atmosphere and well organised In full: I found the run tough personally but that was due to a lack of training rather than it was a horrible course. Despite this I found the run a pleasurable morning. It is a nice course, scenic, little traffic, few spectators but the marshalls were excellent and very supportive. It is a small event and rather low key but I do not see this as a negative. I hope the organisers do not try to change this as it makes the event quite unique. Normally I only do races where you get a medal at the end as I like building on my collection of medals but I may have to make an exception for this event. Date of review: August 28, 2012

In short: Usual excellent organisation. Not too hot. In full: Not flat, but not too slow either. Well done to Pewsey Vale for putting on a well organised race. This is always low key, but highly recommended. The potential problem is always that it could be a baking hot day. it was 18-20 degrees with some wind, so not too bad. Plenty of shade in the last couple of miles when you need it most. Date of review: August 28, 2012

In full: This is a glorious little run around the picturesque Pewsey Vale - even allowing for the challenging mile-long 'inclines' at miles 4 and 12!! The race organisation was marvellous, marshalls fantastic, and the four water stations more than welcome in the unexpected late summer heat. Despite having a very difficult race for health reasons, the help and support of a number of other runners got be back up and running and I can honestly say I wouldn't have finished the race without them.
What this race lacked in a finishing medal and on-route support, it more than made up for in peaceful country scenery, fun finishers' t-shirt, and a friendly post-race medal ceremony.. Complete with cake!! Date of review: August 27, 2012

In short: Lovely views and great cake! In full: Thoroughly enjoyed this year's Pewsey half marathon. The views in the first quarter were absolutely lovely, and seeing a white horse on a hillside on the way round was a surprise. Only one proper hill, nothing scary about it! Lovely friendly crowd and thanks to the marshalls and water station volunteers - especially the ones who thought to use double cups so we didn't spill the water everywhere! In short: Small-scale but a fine race In full: A single circuit with some undulations through beautiful countryside on roads with light traffic. Mostly club runners who seemed to enjoy the low-key ambience, unobtrusive efficiency and delicious cakes Date of review: August 27, 2012

In short: Scenic route and great value In full: Having raced all over the place for several years now, this is exactly the sort of event I've grown to love. Great value, easy to get to, parking close to the start, friendly atmosphere, beautiful route (with views of the famous white horse from Alton Barnes) and plenty of drinks stops along the way. It's probably not a PB course, but then the fact I was a couple of minutes slower than I'd hoped is probably down to a lack of training. It is undulating though. All in all, a lovely morning out.
