In short: Excellent organisation with really scenic route - scrummy cakes
In full: Can't fault this race for anything to do with the scenery, organisation, cakes (mmmmhhh!), value or surfaces. Only down side was waiting for nearly 5 minutes to get through the stile near the start, but thats what you expect at the back of the field. Have recommended it to everyone at our club so there may be some more Basildonites there next year. I certainly plan to do it again. We both couldn't fault the whole event. Thanks to all those who stood in the storm at the end and were still so encouraging and to all the marshalls who were unfailingly cheerful.

In short: Great organisation, plenty of refreshment points. Three hills in the last quarter a good willpower test. Main downside was the long queue at the stile a1 mile in.

In short: A flat trail run with Hilly 3 mile section of tarmaced road near end.
In full: There are no doubt some good things about this race. Brass band at the finish - cool. More cakes than you can poke a stick at - can't be bad (although in hot years I hear they can go a bit gooey!) Mostly off road and some reasonable countryside. Well marked and marshalled - friendly club and helful helpers. It is a good challenge to 'run a lap'. School is a good base - although no lights in the mens shower area and blocked drains turning the place into a mini swimming pool with half-hearted shower pressure (but warm) is something the caretaker can sort for future users.
Medal and goody bags always nice - price not bad.
Nice Events who did the 'event management' - I have had a similar problem with a race I did at Xmas re: results - no results on their website and now I see they have a 'results' page, but not containing the Bewl results - infact few of the races they actually run are there. I guess u go to the club website. So I looked there yesterday (9 days after the race) and still no 2008 results up. Baring in mind this is the only race (?) Wadhurst Runners run, link to results from front page I would have expected. So to find the results, after much clicking, I had to scrowl through the forum and find a link. I did put my e-mail address on the form I think but entered late on the day - so never got an e-mail of results the day after the race. Anyway, what about friends, family, press, etc. who want to see the results??
Lets not get done for false advertising - the race is 13.5 miles long. I had 15.53 on my GPS - another 'poster' has 15.52. Why call it 15, or even 14.2. the 'Good for a pb question?' is actually excellent - as you can get a great 15 mile pb as it is only 13.5! The last mile marker was a bit of a joke! From the farce that was the style gate (second time round) at 13 miles(actually a little under) to the 14 mile marker was barely half a mile!?
I thought the drinks and sponges were good although it would be good to have consistency with sports drinks across the race - I think I had Isostar, Ribena! and something else from the tables - surely a mix can be bad for some...!? Big signs for WATER - SPORTS DRINK would help as hearing what several people are shouting at you at the same time whilst running and the wind going past your ears is not ideal.
Advice to marshalls therefore, if you do want to say something to runners, keep it brief and say it loud "Left at the Junction" is fine, but anything longer is a waste of your breath.
Thanks for putting it on - keep it going - it is good to have in the calendar.

In short: Scenic undulating course with great support and cake and medals to top it off! Brilliant fun.
In full: A really enjoyable race overall. Fantastic atmosphere with plenty of friendly marshalls providing water, sports drink and jelly beans. It was shorter than 15 miles and a bit cramped at the start, which is useful to bear in mind when choosing your start position if you're aiming to be near the front. The course was a nice mix of off road through woodland and across fields and some road sections. I wore flats but trail shoes would probably be good if it had been wetter on the day. It was one of the best finish areas I've ever seen after a race - medals, drinks, fruit and cake - wonderful!

In short: The Buel 15 is an amazing race! Its scenic, challenging and run round one of the biggest lakes in the south. t
In full: But the thing that makes it stand out is none of the above, its the little touchs like people handing out jellys on the way round & the stall at the end full of homemade cakes& fruit all free of charge(at least i hope they were free of charge)and i havnt mentioned the brass band that carried on playing us in even though it was pouring with rain!well done to everyone involved with this event and keep up the good work, you guys made me proud tobe british!

In short: Great organisation, fantastic scenery, brilliant marshalling and a very welcome slab of cake a the end. It was a shame that I had to pull out due to an injury at the 9 mile mark as I was on for a good time for the course. Better luck next time.

In short: First time have entered Bewl. Very challenging course, lovely scenary and excellent organisation and marshalling. i I
In full: If I was being hyper critical perhaps consideration needs to be given to the start. There was quite a bit of congestion and as the event gets larger this could be a bit of an issue in the future, but that is just me being picky!
