In short: Superb run. A hidden classic of the racing calendar. In full: Nothing to be scared of. Downhills are welcome at the end of the race and the gentle climb for the first few miles is hardly noticeable. FA cup final and beer tent at finish - great. Date of review: June 12, 2007

In short: Practise long downhills before you do this one... In full: Half marathon PB for me. Registration was nice and smooth. Bus to start all happy smiley faces. Torrential downpoor as we walked from bus drop off to start was uhm, refreshing!? The run itself was fantastic, just mind the cyclists and walkers coming the other way. Support a bit sparse but then it is along an old disused railway high up on the peaks. Water stations were plastic cup affair, not the best but it keeps rubbish close by for the marshalls to collect. Although it was a small field (200ish runners) there was always another runner in view so you didn't get lonely but not one if you want to chat. Date of review: June 12, 2007

In short: What a lovely race! In full: Really enjoyed this, apart from the long downhill which did for my legs. The support though sparse was lovely, and the views of course were superb. I will be back next year, maybe to do the full marathon. Date of review: May 24, 2007

In short: A1 half-marathon : In full: Firm, off-road track, ideal for your fastest road shoes. Quick, scenic and friendly for the first 8 miles. Three staggering downhills in the final 5 miles.
Goody bag & mug at the end. Excellent organisation.

Everything about this race is great: scenery, organisation, friendliness, value for money, ..
