In short: Enjoyed the race but too many runners.
In full: I do enjoy the manchester run but because so many people are allowed to enter it is a very busy race. A lot of weaving has to be done and I think if you going to walk there needs to be some guidance to racers about moving to the left single file. Overall, well organised and as it is a flat course there is PB potential. Think I will give it a miss next year though as it's very pricey and some other good races out there that are better and cheaper!

In short: Very well organised race in fantastic Manchester
In full: This was my first 10k so I think I'll have some emotional attachment to it for some time. Not cheap but I ran for a charity. Great cheering although very quiet for some spots (not a bad thing). Some incline. Water and goodie bag dispatch great. Same as others re: walking very early on, and people working 2 or 3 a breast which makes for a lot of weaving in and out. Great warm-up and lovely atmos. Very happy to have completed in 58 mins and 44 secs after running for 5 months.

In short: Great Race for 1st Timers - but they ain't all this pricy!
In full: I'd agree with most of what's been said before. I was honest about my time when I enetered and was in the pink wave, have improved a bit since entering and won't go in the last wave again, it was like dodgem cars at times, people walking within the first 1k. Course is good but that gradual uphill at the end is a bit cheeky! The support as everyone has commented is superb and the shower tent is ace! Have to say though that the cost is bordering on obscene. That's the one thing that may stop me doing it again. Also, as sopmeone else commented, for those that need walk breaks it would be a big help if they didn't walk three/four abreast in the middle of the road, single file to one side would be a big help even to relative newbies like me who are still trying to break the hour. A note in the pre race blurb (of which there is plenty) to this effect would be very useful and would probably elminate more than a few hairy moments.

There's no doubt it's great fun to be part of the whole event though, everyone should do it at least once.

In short: Excellent Race, a bit pricey, but worth paying the extra for the great atmosphere. First race I ever did last year - enjoyed it so much took up running and came back this year! A lot better organised than the recent Manchester Marathon!

In short: Not cheap - but a great event
In full: Have run this many times, this is the race that got me started, and wasn't going to run it as now race longer distances and was thinking this was a bit fun runnish for me, but so glad I did. Really enjoyed it this year. Got a PB too - although as mentioned if you're not at the start of your wave you're going to have to dodge a lot of people, but that was part of the fun for me. Also great to run in the same race as so many people of different abilities.

In short: Second time for me - I have issues, but I'll do it again
In full: The most 'everyman' race I ever do, so a very low intimidation factor. Runs like clockwork, and a nice flat route. Only potential downsides are the numbers of runners, and the number of runners who over-estimate their capabilities: without this, this is a definite PB course, but you do have to run round a lot of walkers from very early on. Oh, and can we get rid of the big red monstrosity we have to run past at 4 and 7K - no, probably not. But home town 10K: have to do it really - I know I will regret it if I ever miss it out.

In short: Great race, well supported and well organised
In full: Really enjoyed running this as part of the orange wave. Good crowds all the way round so many thanks to all those who come out to cheer and clap strangers. Well organised and a goody bag at the end that's bursting with snacks to help you recover. T-shirt is a bit dull as is some of the scenery, but would definitely recommend this to new runners.

Looking forward to 2013 already.

In short: Great race, but done it now
In full: Fabulous atmosphere, great warm up and second to none support from the public. I ran this with a smile on my face because the buzz is amazing.

Done it twice now and have enjoyed it on both occasions.

Only gripe - if you're going to walk, move to the side of the road and start at the back of the wave!
