In short: Excelent experience despite the rain! In full: This was my first ever 10K and I thought it was great! everyone was friendly and very supportive (you need a lot of support with thoes hills!) the weather was horrible but dispite that I had a great day. Very well organised and great venu. Date of review: April 29, 2008
In short: Thunder and lightning couldn't stop this race! In full: enjoyable race. ideal family day out at the zoo. take a picnic! hilly and challenging. well organised. Enter your kids in the fun run for cheap entry to the zoo. Date of review: April 28, 2008
In short: Challenging and rewarding In full: Very hilly for the first 5k, but the sense of satisfaction you gain from getting to the top is worth it. The last 5k is quicker and you can more than make up time here. I managed to get a PB and it has given me the confidence to try that bit harder for another one on my next run. I will be doing this one again. Date of review: April 28, 2008
In short: Maybe an escaped tiger would help me up the hills! In full: I love this race, very challenging course up some very very long hills! But scenery great, organisation fabulous and getting to stay at the zoo for the rest of the day amazing! Date of review: April 28, 2008
In short: Enjoyable hilly race with a cruel finish! In full: A well organised race with plenty of marshalls and supporters. The course is tricky with just over 1000ft of ascent being recorded on my garmin. Most of the climb is in the first 5k and the corresponding descent in the last half with an uphill finish over the last 100 metres. My only real gripe is that the start and first km is very narrow which makes it a slow getaway. A t-shirt would have been a great memento. Overall, a great day out. Date of review: April 28, 2008
In short: A Fairly cheeky 10k, but overall a fantastic day out for the whole family. In full: Despite the thunderstorm in the morning, it turned out to be a fantastic day. The race was a lot harder than i anticipated. First 5km was nails (mostly uphill), but second half easier. Well organised with plenty of enthusiastic marshals. Numerous people criticised the cost of family entering the Zoo to watch, but what do you expect! Marwell Zoo gave massive discount to the runners - Free Entry to the Zoo for both 10k and funrun runners, and group discount for spectators. If you ask me, a bargain.
