In short: 2009 race - Well organiesed, good route and a fun day for all
In full: Four circuits of the hackney marshes. Lovely weather, flat varied surface, nice scenery (fields, trees and the rive Lee). Well marsheled, lots of water and nice goodies at the end. Was a brillant race for both the runner and spectators

In short: Charmingly 'local' feel with excellent value for money
In full: With hindsight and a few more races under my belt I am realising that this event was fantastic - extremely friendly, excellent support, lots of freebies (food, energy drinks etc.). Dull 6 lap course of uninspiring terrain but made up for by friendly atmosphere and competitors from all levels of experience, and the weather was a bonus.

In short: Very friendly and encouraging
In full: Be more helpful to start on time rather than all the talk talk talk, but that was the only small thing. Very friendly, nice touch with the marshalls having lists of names and calling them out as you went past. Thanks to the marshall calling the time on each lap and at the end, very encouraging. Nice goody bag and plenty of people offering water. after the finish. Thanks all, would definitely do again.

In short: Friendly, fun and not too crowded.
In full: This was my first half-marathon and I will certainly go back. Even if the organisation sometimes seemed a little random that generally added to the charm, and the important stuff (water stops, ambulance etc.) were all done properly. The marshalls and organisers were exceptionally friendly. For instance, they offered my a wife (who was supporting me) a free leftover food bag when they saw she didn't have any lunch. The steel drums were also great. A very simple course and not too crowded, so perfect for anyone who wants to get a fast time I'd say. My goal was simply to finish in under two hours which I did - although, the morning after, I'm aching like ****!
