In short: A good atmosphere maybe a bit repetative In full: A really good atmophere, supporters lining most the route. Really well organised. The only bad point i would say is going up and down the seafront four times can be a bit soul destroying. Date of review: June 15, 2010

In full: A very good race slightly tarnished by restricted access to Shoebury East Beach (Blackgate Road is never going to handle that amount of traffic, poor organisation at the start (it always helps if you test your klaxon/starters pistol) and a non existent PA system (although it was amusing to watch a man shouting to make himself heard over 1500 people).
Despite these minor glitches the support, marshalling and frequency of water stations around the course were fantastic. The course whilst a bit repetitive was much better than the last time I ran it as there was no confusion over which side of the road we were supposed to be on. I also achieved a PB so this made the race all the more worthwile. All in all a good day out and I look forward to going through all the same next year. Date of review: June 15, 2010

In short: flat, well orgainsed sea front event In full: Some people mentioned parking issues, I got there 3/4hr before race start with no problems at all. The race was delayed around 20mins due (I think) to the parking saga, which was not ideal. This was my first 1/2 marathon and I really enjoyed the route and location with frequent water points. I will definitely be running this again. Date of review: June 15, 2010

In full: I agree with previous reports. It was a total nightmare getting into the East Beach at Southend, the parking organisation just wasn't good. (I was one of those people having jump out of the car and run a half mile to make the start.) Having said that, once we were off and running the course is really flat and fast with nice friendly support. I could have easily run faster had it not been copious amount of beers consumed watching England vs. USA the night before..! Not the best preparation. All in all, I would do it again and just hope the organisers can sort out the car parking for next year. Date of review: June 14, 2010

In short: Fast course by the seaside In full: Very flat - took 9 mins off my PB (only my second ever half). Frequent water stations very welcome. Great encouragement at the end. Sunburned without realising it. No T-shirt but a decent medal. Back home in time for the football. Would def do this again - not least for the PB potential. Date of review: June 14, 2010
