In full: First half race - organisation was very good - weather was cold - didnt help that ran through ford on the airfield on 2nd lap, chilled entire body lost 3 minutes through walking as a result. All in all enjoyable race, travelled from Bristol to run so not sure if will come back again next year. Excellent race for regional locals

In short: Good, but uninspiring, race
In full: Given the loss or major changes to races in Hampshire it's good that this race has managed to survive but it's not the most interesting of courses.

In short: Much nicer course with a chance to paddle
In full: The course adjustment made for a much better run. The goody back was the best I’ve every received – what a nice key ring (cake, crisps, fruit bar, drink etc all mentioned by others) – how do they do it for the money.
After the short delay at the start (waiting for all traffic lights to be set to red) the “Ready Set Go” was very abrupt – but as a boy at the back I had quite a way to go to reach the start line so no problems for me
The water was deep and cold on the airfield but freestyle was permitted!
When I left the airfield for the second time and saw the band it gave me a nice lift – I thought we were on the way home, but after a short while we had turn back toward from where I had just come from and pass the band again. The band looked like they were having a really good time and I thought the atmosphere was great…………….. What a lovely stretch down by The Solent, the last couple of miles were great, and the wind was on my back.

In short: Great organisation, dull and repetitive course
In full: Race base at school was good and race was very well organised. Start was delayed by 5 mins but no worries. However start is down a fairly narrow road so if you're not at the front you have a problem (like normal take you PB minus 10 mins to get a realistic start point). Sadly the route quickly moved onto a pedestrian/cycle path that was far too narrow for all the runners. The last few days of heavy rain meant you couldn’t run around on the grass verges. This made the first couple of miles slow going. The course is flat but pretty monotonous taking you round the old and derelict HMS Daedalus base several times. Out to Stubbington and then to Lee-on-Solent before, once again, running around Daedalus. Water-flooded roads made this interesting but thankfully the weather was kind after the preceding day’s storms. The highlight of the course for me was the run along the prom at Lee.

Numerous supportive marshals around the course so thanks to them. The goody back at the end was excellent. Not the usual rubbish but a drink, bag of ready salted crisps, cake and a nut bar – makes a change not to bin the lot.

Great organisation but I wouldn’t rush back for this repetitive course.

In short: Very friendly but quite fast paced for a first timer
In full: Loved my first half marathon experience, despite finishing last with blisters! Very friendly and encouraging runners and marshalls.

In short: Well organised, fast race
In full: As ever this race is well organised and marshalled. It has been improved with a better start and finish and a section along the seafront towards the end. A heavy rain shower and short flooded section didn't stop me getting a PB. The goody bag was generous for the cost of the race and the cake made up for the lack of chip timing.
