In short: A PB course though a little tougher than it looks In full: Nice race, shame about the thunderstorm beforehand - soaked to the skin on the warm-up and covered in mud from the car park (aka muddy field. I blame the organisers (well, they get blamed for everything else). Nice circuit though. Mostly flat but with a few little uphills to make you work hard, but not too hard. The only downside was the finish that twisted and turned into the village hall car park - it's a pity it couldn't be on the main road which would give a nice straight run in. In short: Fast! Work the last hill as your almost home. In full: In the 9th k there is a hill. Just take this one steady but the next one you come to needs to be worked as your turning in for home at the top of it. A good chance to catch people napping. See you next year! In short: Nice 10K made for doing PBs on. In full: I did this race in 2003 and did a PB then. Travelled from Stafford to try and get another one but failed by 26 seconds!
Great course with a long downhill section between 6 and 8 km. Will be coming back to do this one again and maybe bring along a few fellow Stafford Harriers too. Date of review: September 25, 2006

In short: Fast, friendly village race. In full: Even the big storm just before the start and muddy parking field didn't dampen the spirits. Date of review: September 25, 2006

In short: Lovely 10K with a real village fete feel about it In full: I was here 2 years ago & ran a PB & liked it then. Today I ran like a 3-legged donkey but still thought this was a really nice event. Home made cakes on sale in the village hall, and finishing in the square just by the hall - all helped contribute to a really nice atmosphere - sorry I couldn't stay to see the fun run. Only (mild) criticism is the runners' car park - the field is pretty uneven & overgrown anyway, and the thunderstorm in the hour before the start turned the exit into a quagmire, with some cars having to be pushed out. But never mind that, I'll certainly be back next year. Date of review: September 24, 2006

In short: A village event made for runners In full: There was a definite village feel to this race. I think this is because it just concentrated on getting all the important things right.
It was a flat course in a nice little village, with encouraging marshalls, a clock on the finish line, accurate kilometer markers and was ideal for runners of all types.
Although I say its flat, there were a couple of hills and raises in the race which I didn't mind as it helped you put in bits of effort, or rest off a bit, but not often enough to be undilating. It was a two lap course, but there was only about a mile which was on both laps so isn't a multiple-lap course.
Overall, it was just a really good race. I can't quite put my finger on why I enjoyed it so much, but it was certainly one of the most enjoyable races I've done in a long time. Date of review: September 24, 2006

In short: After thunder storm for an hour before the start turned into ideal running weather, excellent organisation and friendly atmosphere, and great cake at the village hall to finish. Date of review: September 24, 2006
