In short: Epic!! In full: Thought I had bitten off more than I could chew running Snowdonia as my first marathon. However the atmosphere, the scenery, my friends and family and the camaraderie of the other runners got me round. If you like running in the rain, this one is for you Date of review: November 1, 2015
In short: The highlight of my race Callander every year In full: This is by far my favourite marathon and race out of all 10 marathons iv done so far and my favourite event out of 30odd events iv taken part in up to yet. I like to set several reminders on my mobile to ensure I enter this race as soon as entries open before it sells out as it does sell out fairy quickly. I love the tshirts you get and I also like the slate coasters you get after completion of the race. It's that good I even bought the snowdonia marathon hoody . Date of review: November 1, 2015
In short: epic In full: without doubt the hardest race I have ever done but as soon as I finished I wanted to do it again, so good I am dreaming about it when sleeping & thinking about it when awake, I can not wait until next year Date of review: October 29, 2015
In short: I love this marathon. 5th year in a row and I will be coming back every year. It has everything from an amazing route, mountain views, amazing support from marshals and spectators, cool tec shirt this year, and of course the legendary slate coaster! In full: And more on the slate coaster. It comes from a local welsh slate mine and is 500 million years old!!! That alone is worth every one of the glorious 26.2 miles!! Just beware of THAT final hill!! ;-) Date of review: October 29, 2015
In short: Lots of downhill, and overall negative gradient so how can you fail ? In full: Basically 3 climbs, mile 2 - 5, Mile 13-16 and miles 21.5 to 24. Shuffle your way up these and the rest is plain sailing. Blow your bollox on those climbs though and you are in for a world of pain.
Can be quick but you need balls of steel and you need to be prepared to suffer from half way if you want a 'good' time.
For those prepared to run it sensibly it is a really jolly friendly and well supported outing. Got to be the best marathon in the UK.
