In short: flat, lots of crowds, lots of runners In full: this was my first race and i loved it. The main problem was the organisation of buses at the beginning, huge seemingly mile long queues meant we only got to the start line after the race had started. apart from that, brilliant. In short: Poor organisation, too many runners for the course, and a total rip-off In full: Organisation from start to finish a complete shambles, both all aspects of the race and also transport / carparking. Too many runners for the course meaning that apart from the front few fast times aren't on the cards, and its a total rip-off. Date of review: March 16, 2006
In short: Leave it in March. In full: Overall excellent, especially it had a different start & finish miles apart it was organised apart from trying to get back into the stadium after the finish which was hell even without having just ran 13 miles.
Everything else was great including the scheduling: 6 weeks or so before London. if it was at that time again I'd do it without hesitation, but at only two weeks before training is winding down by that point & a PB half marathon 14 days before may hinder more than help. In short: shocking start/finish organisation In full: Really need to sort out the start..waiting at Reading station for 45 minutes to get to the start was hideous-the return journey even worse. Nice finishing in the football stadium but after that chaos-won't do again simply because of the start/finish problems. Date of review: April 18, 2005
In short: Good race let down by the late start In full: The only thing that lets the race down is the late start. There's a very good atmosphere, the finish is well organised and the goody bag has all the right stuff, but why can't we let late comers start late? They have a chip after all. In short: First Half marathon In full: Training for the London marathon - great to experience the start, finish and running with a crowd. Massive queues to get on the allocated buses so I was pleased I left enough time prior to the start. However we started slightly later to allow for those probably still stuck in the bus queue. Enjoyed my first half marathon though. Date of review: April 4, 2005
In short: First 1/2 marathon - just glad to finish!! In full: Only started running back in Oct 04, few injury problems but decided to try my luck.. paid off!! Not likely to break any world records but we all need to start somewhere.. Will be going back in 06! Date of review: April 3, 2005
