In short: Good organisation, plenty of water stations , nice route In full: Good organisation, my bag was waiting for me at Stonehenge when I arrived and no problem getting the coach back to where we started in Avebury. The second half across Salisbury Plain was more undulating than I expected and it was drier underfoot than I thought it would be after all the recent heavy rain. Mostly on gravel tracks so shoes with some cushioning better than out and out off roaders. Encouraging marshalls at the water stations and from some of the many walkers out too. All in all a good day out! Date of review: May 9, 2012

In short: Wide open views (of the hills ahead?) - great run & great org In full: Great organisation and management of multi events (walk, half, full marathon, canix, bike). Surprisingly dry surface, and even warm weather & sun for much of the run - glad I opted at the last minute for shorts & T, as opposed to leggings, long sleeve top, jacket, gloves etc etc (Note to Sonia - but don't tell everyone - but book & take the last coach. That gives time for registration, loo queue, final change of shirt & then off ... I hung around in the cold for an hour last year, not this year!) Date of review: May 9, 2012

In short: Lovely scenic course, great organisation In full: As this event occurs at the same time as multiple walking and cycling events (with up to 2,000 participants), the facilities en-route are excellent. Lots of water stations and many toilets.
The first 12 miles or so from Avebury are very scenic footpaths undulating in the Wiltshire hills. The second half hits a hard track on the edge of the military Salisbury plain. Very firm under foot. It makes for quite a fast second half and expect a negative split.
Finish was also very well organised just north of Stonehenge. A great event and well worth the trip. Date of review: May 8, 2012

In short: A great race, well organised In full: Though really well organised, felt the half marathon start could of been closer to the coach drop off time.
After spending an hour waiting in the cold and shivering at the start line we got going.
The race itself was really enjoyable, plenty of toilets, water stations and the weather turn out to be fantastic.

In short: great experience for my first full marathon In full: found it tough going on the rock hard chalky tracks (even after all the rain) and i think i made a mistake in wearing trail shoes but was expecting tracks to be saturated. glad i chose this one though as the scenery and access to salisbury plain/stonehenge made it interesting for the 5 hrs i was out in the lovely sun. good organisation/transport/toilets on course/food etc. back to halfs for me now though Date of review: May 7, 2012
