In short: Bonfire night followed by a scenic HM In full: Hard to fault this one! Marlow one of the prettier parts of England, with the HM very well-organised and still managing to maintain that village feel despite 1500 entrants. The route is glorious and virtually car-free, with some challenging hills to make it interesting then the last mile is all downhill. Top it off with a great fireworks display at Longridge the night before and a pub lunch afterwards and its a great weekend. Date of review: November 12, 2011

In short: lovely and cool day, once on the way gretted with a slow winding uphillsection, and this theme continued with steeper up and down runs, with a lovely last mile downhill to the finish Date of review: November 11, 2011

In short: Wonderful race with red kites for company. In full: Travelled quite a distance to do this race having ran it for the first time last year. Enjoyed the course very much and seeing red kites giving their arial support made me want to return. It's certainly not an easy run and people considering need to practice on the hills. Tech. Shirt was a great improvement on last year's cotton variety. Only one criticism. More loo's are required. With a 1000 plus runners the ones on sight cannot cope with the deamd and a few porto's would help, just aswell the route was heavily wooded in places. Overall a great run, one of the best, and I will do it again. Date of review: November 10, 2011

In short: Bring on the DOMS!! In full: Last did this 5 years ago and for some reason, although I remembered it was hilly, I didn't remember it being quite that hilly!!
Definately a challenge, and my legs are still sore now (it's Wednesday evening) but it makes finishing all the sweeter.
Great marshalls, loved the technical t-shirt - better than a medal - and the bar of soap was an added (random) bonus. Would probably have liked a Mars Bar or a sports drink or something at the end - would have put an extra sparkle on it.
One major gripe - and it's not very original - the number of ladies toilets was WOEFUL. The queue was ridiculous and I was resigned to finding a quiet spot to go until I happened across the (empty) public loos 2 minutes from the start venue! Date of review: November 9, 2011

In short: Dem hills don't get any flatter !! In full: My fourth year in a row at Marlow and one of the most satisfying races on the calendar - mainly knowing that you've tamed the beast of a course. Marshalls were excellent and the whole event ran like clockwork. Great technical t-shirt at the end too. Recommend to anyone who wants to run a hard but well organised enjoyable event. No negatives at all (apart from my Calves and Thighs which are still killing me on two days later). See you next year.

In short: Another fantastic Half, with ideal weather for a change In full: 8th time running this and once again appeals to the masochistic tendencies with the monster hills at 8 & 11. But great atmosphere and organisation and the lovely downhill last mile or so. Need to add a few portaloos please as the indoor ones got 'blocked' and bring back the photographer. No doubt be back next year. Date of review: November 7, 2011

In short: A well organised half, with great scenery and some hills for challenge. In full: Ran this as my third ever half, and final event before my first Marathon at Luton two weeks after. I thought the event was very well organised and thanks to the countless marshalls etc helping.
Coming from Milton Keynes I struggled with hills, especially the downhills where I just have to idea how to descend with pace or grace and was painful on the knees, but it's all good practice.
Refreshments were water only, but no big issue. The route is very scenic and on the crisp morning it was beautiful, but I imagine had it poured the whole race it would be far less uplifting.
Start area was pretty good but toilets a little lacking (seems the same with every race though).
A good mix of runners, most of a fair speed (vast bulk were under 2hs) unlike some of the bigger events I've been to.
Was aiming for 10min miles as practice for a 'hoped' marathon pace and ended up bang on that at 2h10m. Probably could have managed nearer 1h50m had I gone for it, but hills would have prevented much faster.
Would recommend it! Date of review: November 7, 2011
