In short: A great event for my first ultra In full: Really impressed with this event. I wanted to do over marathon distance for the first time & I managed to do 30.5 miles. Pulled out at one of the checkpoints as instructed and was able to enjoy the vast array of food and drink on offer. This is a really special race, and from what I hear, the last 20 miles are the best part of the race so I'll test that theory next year. :-) Date of review: October 27, 2010
In short: Great organistion, freindly and wellcoming and great tea shirt!! In full: The organisation ran smoothly as allways, the weather held up making this years conditions very good. The checkpoints were well stocked and very freindly helpers. The course is as advertised flat/undulating with nothing to steep to run so if you are thinking of making the step up, it would be a good race to break you into ultra running and i also must add the shirts this year are the best yet. Cheers again to rotherham harriers and everyone involved in putting on a top event !!! Date of review: October 18, 2010
In short: First time for this 50, and loved it - great for a 1st timer, friendly and not too hilly! In full: We started in the dark at 6am, and my only aim for the day was to try to finish before it got dark again... which I did.... just about. I was hoping for anything under 14 hours, so a neat 12hrs 34 went down nicely.
Very friendly, well stocked checkpoints. I do all these events on my own, but still ended up with a bunch of cheerleaders at each checkpoint.
I got lost 4 times in the first 10 miles, but then decided to watch where I was going (!) and didn't get lost again. The maps are fantastic - I wish every ultra did these!!
My favourite ultra this year, and I'll be back for more next year too! Thanks!
P.S. Really nice techie-t and badge too! Thanks! Date of review: October 18, 2010
In short: Another fantastic day out courtesy of RHAC - thanks one and all In full: This is one of the truly surprising events in the calendar. For years we didn't do it because the idea of 50 miles round Rotherham simply didn't appeal - but what a surprise! Have now done 10 events and they just get better. Great atmosphere among the runners and very friendly marshals. The new waymarks make navigation easier than before, but still potential to get lost if you don't keep your wits about you! Thanks to all involved in organising the day - we already have next year's event in the diary Date of review: October 18, 2010
