In short: Pleasant fast 10k road run In full: My first foray into the 10K distance, very pleasant, shame about the rain, but posted a quick time and it ran like clockwork. good work folks. Date of review: October 28, 2007

In short: Straightforward and enjoyable village race In full: This is a straightforward and enjoyable village race, although the fete atmosphere was rather dampened this year as the heavens opened at the end of the race. The course is reasonable with just one long drag uphill in the 4th kilometre that you can make up with a largely downhill final 3k. We’ve had our doubts about the distance as so many seem to run PBs, but I got it slightly over 10k on my GPS so I guess it’s just a genuinely fast course. I took over a minute off my PB, although the 17 second difference between my watch time and the official time put me one second over 44 minutes which was annoying. Must run faster!
One minor comment – the medal was very cheap. A few extra pennies spent on the medal will give you a far nicer momento.

In short: All right on the night!!! In full: There appeared the potential for things too go wildly wrong ... 'wing and prayer' come to mind ... having said that the race passed off without obvious incident. I understand late withdrawal of use of the recreation ground was the cause of slight disorganisation. So race officials did well to salvage the race's reputation as a local favoured event. Date of review: May 10, 2007

In short: Lovely little race In full: This is a nice little race with plenty going for it, for instance, it’s a fairly flat course (apart from one serious climb at about 4K); the marshals are plentiful and very enthusiastic; the village fete atmosphere; the BBQ; the mars bar at the end; not too crowded and a fair mix of runners.
But there are a few points the organisers could take on board to improve it, like providing a changing area and slightly better organisation at the start. Runners really should have been encouraged to start from a realistic point. This is important because the course IS advertised as being ‘flat’ and by implication fast, and quite a few club runners were looking for quick times, which meant a quick start and any slower runners were caught up in the initial rush!
I enjoyed this race and was hoping for a PB (which I got) but have to comment that it is quite twisty and has some very sharp turns.
All in all very pleasant!!

In short: puts the 'fun' into running In full: The marshalls are some of the friendliest I've encountered in road races and are so encouraging - it really helps when you're flagging. My only suggestion would be to have 800 metres, 400 metres etc to go signs as I wasn't sure where the finish was and saved a bit of energy unnecessarily when I should have been sprinting - but apart from that and the traffic problems at the garden centre(which I don't think much can be done about)I enjoyed it - great race for beginners too. In short: OK race but for the price, excellent. In full: Nothing out of the ordinary for this one, but then I like races like this, that do not pretend to be anything that they're not.
Nice simple race, just a medal & mars bar at the end but then for £7 you can't complain. I've paid £12+ for races & got less than that.
Nice flat, fast course, but never an easy one. I got a PB by 30 seconds but was still well under what I was going for & not sure why - lost the time between 2K-6K.
Quite a few twists & turns, the odd hill plus the vary from road, to pavement, to gravel, to country lane probably contributed but it never stopped being enjoyable.
I felt so sorry for the organisers, who were all friendly & very professioanl that the rain was just horrendous especially for the village fete & the money probably lost from that, but I'm sure what was lost will be gained from people coming back next year for a good run.
Two criticisms, it could possibly have done with two drink stations, esp one before 6K although thankfully it was cold & rainy so not too serious, but there definitely needed to be somewhere to change, given how soaked everyone was, not showers or anything just a room or tent to completely change clothes, but otherwise a faultless race in a lovely part of the county. In short: Was looking forward to a fast finish but the trafiic spoil that! In full: A good race, well organised and friendly. Everyone had told me about the last 2km being a fast finish etc etc BUT what a busy 2km!! Too much traffic and narrow pavements meant that I was jumping on/off kerbs and so my potential PB was spolit! Never mind- a pleasurable race, even in the rain- will definitely make this one a regular event! Date of review: May 7, 2007

In short: Good race - well marshalled in the main - despite the rain, it was very enjoyable! In full: Bit chaotic at the start, with cars still coming through whilst everyone was gathering. Marshalling during the race was great - stopping traffic at road junctions etc. -although not as enthusiastic as at other races, but this was likely due to the rain (big thanks for giving up your time though and for not minding getting wet!!). Finish area was also a little frantic, and not hugely obvious. Was it me or did the lead vehicle, which was parked up, no longer have the clock ticking? All in all, an enjoyable race, with excellent PB potential. Thanks to all everyone involved in the organisation of the race. Date of review: May 7, 2007
