In short: Well organised
In full: First 10k and enjoyed it. Well worked by putting 4 waves groups, from elite/profession group down to beginner/novice groups. Nice route from the quayside out to the suspension bridge and back.
Weather was mild but a spectators cheering you on. Nice promotional stuff from Lucozade. Mainly flat with only one incline. Definitely do again.

In short: Great atmosphere, fun for beginners, and free stuff at end!
In full: The organisation is superb with a dedicated website and pre run sessions held in Bristol to check fitness before the race. About 9K runners in total actually race on the day so four waves leave the town centre. Nice gentle incline as you leave town and run along the Avon Gorge below the famous suspension bridge. Coming back into town (which is closed to traffic) you are greeted by a cheering or clapping crowd (no matter what your time)which encourages you to get a extra fast finish. My first race and cant fault it.

In short: An excellently organised event on a fast and flat PB course. Well done, Bristol!
In full: I ran in this event in 2009 and everything went like clockwork. Was that a fluke or would runBristol come up trumps again? The number of entrants was said to be up from about 7,000 in 2009 to about 10,000 this year, so it would be interesting to see how things went.

Advance arrangements were fine, with the website set up for 2010 a long time in advance. I think I put my entry in well before Christmas. And that was pretty much that until the race pack arrived in the post about two weeks before the event. The organisers produce an informative little race booklet with lots of information for runners and spectators alike and it seems to answer all the questions. The format of a wave start, which had worked very well in 2009, was again used. The two starts are timed at fifteen minute intervals and there is talk of moving to three starts next year.

I really enjoyed the pre-race atmosphere. Millennium Square is a great place to assemble and to people-watch. The only niggle this year was that there seemed to be a shortage of WCs, or at the very least of signposts pointing to them, as the main queue snaked right across the square. Otherwise everything was fine and I would acknowledge in particular the contribution of sponsor Lucozade, whose stand had a good supply of sports drinks and of pacing bands.

We were provided with some entertainment in the white pen when a runner realised with about five minutes to go that she hadn't got her timing chip, which was apparently in her boyfriend's rucksack! Where was her boyfriend? No-one knew! I suggested to her that she should give herself more time to locate him and aim for the 9.45 am second wave start. "But that's for the slow people!" she replied. With about half a minute to go, her boyfriend arrived and we all cheered loudly as she attached the chip. Oh what fun we had!

As I wrote last year, this is a super course. It uses all the flat and straight bits of the Half Marathon course and is a joy to run. It was much cooler than in 2009 and the single drinks station seemed more than adequate this time. There was excellent support along most of the course, although Cumberland Road was a little quiet, and lots of noise over the last kilometre through the centre.

Arrangements at the finish were very good, with the usual line-up of marshals and helpers with space blankets, de-chippers, medals, goody bags and T-shirts. Thanks to all!

I missed the PB but, more significantly, was beaten by my daughter for the first time! I’ll be back to seek my revenge next year!

In full: Voluntary marshals excellent; can't say the same about the security firm! Could we have different radio station next time? Same old jokes about men wearing lycra are very boring; perhaps the DJs could take part next time and see how comfortable it is for running!

In short: A fast run around Bristol's waterfronts
In full: This course has a reputation for being fast (an extended version is used for the Bristol Half-Marathon, and was the scene of Paula Radcliffe's record-breaking win in the World HM Championship in 2001) and conditions on Sunday were near perfect for fast running. I missed a PB by some 30 seconds but was amazed by my time, in view of my poor preparation and lack of training, and it seems like many others achieved PBs. Thoroughly enjoyed the race and the day! Only complaints would be around the toilets (never enough, and long queues stretching across walkways), and delays with bag collection. Staggered start worked a treat - no hold-ups trying to weave past slow starters at the front. Hope the last finishers got their medals/freebies etc - some selfish b******* among early finishers were helping themselves to as much as they could carry! Perhaps a need to control issue of these goodies in future?

In short: Flat course, great for a PB with lots of support from the crowd!
In full: Excellent race where I managed a 10k PB! The support from the crowd and marshals was great. The only down side was the wait at the end of the race to pick up medal, t-shirt, goodie bag etc.
