In short: Fantastic event!
In full: One of my all-time favourite races! Great organization, friendly marshalls and fantastic atmosphere in Tywyn. The course is very challenging and the heat this year didn't help but I loved every minute of the race and will be definitely back next year!

In short: Once run, never forgotten.
In full: This was my fourth attempt (and failure) at beating the train. The course was slightly different from previous years in that it featured sunshine. This improved the views, but made it tougher than it sometimes is. My boys did the 3.5 mile version, and want to do it again next year...

In short: Fantastic!
In full: Favourite race (and no, I didn't bother to race the train!) of the year (and I have ran a fair few). Extremely well organised, brilliant day for the kids too, lovely scenery and the added extra of a train with people cheering you on (need to be pretty quick to beat the train though!). Will be on my calendar for next year. Brilliant marshals and support too. Not the easiest of runs but not as hard as doing some of the usual Welsh trail/cross country runs. Not PB material BUT you don't feel pressure like you do in a road race, I took it steady and enjoyed every minute of it.

In short: Great Atmosphere and scenes
In full: I had signed up to this race looking for a challenge and it did not disappoint! Not sure if it was the heat or the hills but the legs were heavy by the half way, but the crowd and people around carry you along all the way back to town.

Big thanks to all those managing the water stations of which there were plenty, and the crowd in town for the start and finish really get behind everyone. Great race all round.

In short: Really Special Race!!!
In full: I don't normally bother reviewing races twice unless they need a bit of constructive criticism to improve OR they are really special. This race is most certainly the latter.

Race the Train is one of those races that is a highlight of my running year. Had a real shocker this year, high hopes of beating the train (7 mins over last year) that hope went out of the window when the sun put in a very unwelcome appearance!!! I found the race a lot harder this year because of both the heat and the ground was a lot harder than last year. Consequently I didn't even manage to beat the second train this year, roll on 2013! However, forget beating it or not, the organisation is first class and unlike a previous review I found the information posted out and on the website to be very clear in every aspect. The crowd support is immense, the whole town gets out and supports every runner and that really makes this race special.

Yes its a challenge but I cannot recommend this race enough, if you haven't done it before sign up for 2013 you won't regret it!

In full: It was my first race the train and I wasn't feeling my best on the day. The heat didn't help and I was sufferering on the last 2 miles. But thanks to the amazing support of fellow runner, marshals and the crowd I was able to finish it. It's a real challenge and I will be back next year to get a better time. Thanks to all that are involved in organising and helping out on the day as it's a well run event.
