In short: For a run which goes up and down the same hill 5 times its very enjoyable
In full: And boy what a hill, each climb is a toughie, picturesque in a number of places.

Slightly too many miles on wide tracks makes it feel slightly unattached from the woods around you. And the style early on made for quite a long bottleneck early in the race.

Excellent organisation, probably the best course marking I've seen. Drinks stations all in the right places.

In short: Great fun, great course, great race
In full: My second Slog and was just as fun as the first. Not PB material at all but that's not what it is about. Fellow runners were encouraging, weather was great, course was tough but a lot of fun and the view on the top of hill is well worth the effort it takes to get there. I'll be back next year!

In short: A lot harder than I thought it would be, and its not the climbs that make it tough its the long inviting flat sections in-between!
In full: Having completed 2 MIdsummer Munro events on Box Hill, I thought that I would give this race a go. I was not disappointed. This is a lot harder than it looks on paper, and it has (according to my Garmin) just over 1500 feet of total ascent over the HM distance.
Great organisation and scenery make this a race I will be doing again next year.

In short: Hills. Yep, they weren't joking.
In full: Loved every minute apart from the queue over the style less than a mile in. The last hill goes on for ever but super location, great course, best organisation you'll find anywhere and excellent facilities at the school. Can we go in the pool afterwards next year?

In short: A Fun Gallumph in the Surrey Hills on a Sunny Sunday Morn
In full: Wonderfully organised and well done for such good path markers and marshalling and I am impressed with the cartographer came up with the race route. Very hard, very beautiful and what a wonderful morning galumphing in the woods with 246 others. Now when will my thighs stop aching!

In short: A stunning course, superbly organised and marshalled by Blackwater Valley Runners.
In full: This is the second time I have run this course and thoroughly enjoyed it. The scenery, organisation and marshalling could not be faulted. It was also nice to knock 20 minutes off my time last year. Well played BVR!

In short: My Goodness that was tough ....
In full: First things first - This is a beautiful course, it will reward whoever wishes to be rewarded for their efforts - and those efforts will be substantial - This is by far the hardest physical challenge I've undertaken - As a new runner (13 months in) at the age of 48 I have to say I underestimated quite what this course might do to me. I was absolutely exhausted at the finish ..... and then I had to drive an hour home.....

The layout of the course was superb, but the Marshalling - my word, the Marshalling - if these wonderful people are not in charge of The Olympic Games next year, then the whole thing will be a mess - This group of men and women were just fantastic - encouraging, informative and lovely. The group at the criss cross point near the top of the course (who we saw 3 or 4 times) were amazing - The first time I saw them, I mentioned the course was harder than my first marraige. From then on when they could tell I was struggling a little, I got a cheer as well as the refreshment and, I have to say, a bit of a chat too - great people, great course - much, much too tough for me. See you next year!

In short: It's all in the name
In full: Very tough. Even after going at a snail's pace my legs really hurt. The hills were not even that steep, I didn't have to walk them, but there were so many of them. And there weren't really any flat bits at all, seemed to be up or down. Nice scenery, nice marshalls, plenty of water stations and well marked course, and good value for money. Would recommend this to anyone who wants a bit of a challenge. Don't know whether I will be up for it again, though, ask me when my quads stop hurting.
