In short: Great scenery, tough hills
In full: Very similar course to the Terminator, but without the long run in. This makes the R&T a better race if the terrain is really muddy, as it was this year.

Thoroughly enjoyed it, and will be back. With some sunshine or ice, this would be paradise.

In short: it was rough and others tumbled !
In full: muddier than last year, and the big hill seemed even steeper !
there were seriously fit runners at the front as although I was fairly near the front, I did it in 1'25", I was beaten by a 60+ yr old and four ladies !!
I strongly recommend this race to any runner !

In short: up and down up and down mud mud mud - fantastic!
In full: Great event, a bit of everything that an off road race should have, but that mud at 8 miles-ish just about finished me off. Great race really well marshalled all friendly with sooooper cakes at the end, baggage reclaim queue was a bit of a test tho! Roll on Termiator and Lumpy Bumpy!

In short: Stairway to heaven?
In full: My first time for this gruelling event. The hills came thick and fast (I was the former but certainly not the latter!) and enough mud to give Glastonbury some serious competition. Turned out to be the toughest and one of the most rewarding races I've ever run. I was quite pleased with my time of 1:54, considering all those hills and all that mud. How on earth somebody got round in 1:06, I'll never know. However, my wife (whose idea it was to enter this event) didn't seem to be too impressed that I finished two minutes behind 'some old codger in his 70s'. I did try to explain that the 'codger' in question was Sir Christopher Chatway but there you go. Anyway, could this event be sponsored by Stannah Stairlift next year?
