In short: Cold, Windy, big hill@2-3mile, good race In full: Good organisation. Mile markers were missing I assume blown away. A good race with possible PB potential without the wind. Date of review: March 1, 2006
In short: A thoroughly enjoyable day out - despite the conditions In full: OK I own up! as one of the organisers, I thought it a good idea to get a runner's view. The Marshalls were fantastic and in the right place; the water stations were not as good as could be (but better than last time); mile markers had been blown away - I spotted only 3, but then I knew where I was going. And as for the hill....... the web site does say "towards Beachy Head" which every one should know is a BIG cliff, so don't complain about the hill! Could have done with more atmosphere at the Start/Finish, but as everyone was frozen solid, I thought it still felt good. Date of review: March 1, 2006
In short: Very good organisation, a nice race all round. In full: A few minor niggles:- - results - as a vet I'd like to see where I came relative to the other old farts - but there was no age indication on the results - mile markers - I didn't see many past 5 miles - blown away? - marshalls - generally excellent - but maybe a few more round the tight turns in the marina - I nearly went the wrong way twice - water stations - need to be a bit more prominant, with more people to hand out cups. In short: It was a breeze! A nice run, albeit after the steep bit at mile 2/3. Plenty of drinks stations and good marshalling. Could do with direction signs on lamp posts to get to the venue. A good race especially if it wasn't so windy! Date of review: March 1, 2006
In short: windy and cold! In full: Did this as a warm-up for the hills of Hastings Half and expected a fast time! Didn,t get it thou, thanks to the conditions! But they can,t all be easy can they! Date of review: February 28, 2006
In short: I thoroughly enjoyed it. The organisers did a terrific job. The cold wind did make it tough - a preamblt to hastings? Would recommend and definitely run again. Date of review: February 27, 2006
In short: Cold, Hilly Windy...but lots of fun! In full: A really good half marathon...yes there was a hill...but this makes it more fun and far more rewarsding once completed. Happily at the top there was a drinks station, but only giving flimsy paper cups which buckled as soon as you held them. ( Any chance of bottled water next time) Unless you stopped it was hard to take any fluid on board. EXCELLENT marshalling, the poor buggers looked colder than we did, but many of them gave encouragement as you passed.
I for one really enjoyed it and would love to try next year to see what difference the conditions made. Date of review: February 27, 2006
